It does look like an astray with a helmet! Or the Macross bike...forgot what their called. Kind of a weird design for a Gundam series MS....even if it is an MSV.... don't see designs like that too often....

bro, there's no Macross bike. i think you're referring to the Masters in Robotech saga. that's Mospeada in japan. yup, now that you mentioned it, it does have a same resemblance on the head. hehehe. ;D

Oh.... is that what they're called? Hehe. Sorry.... not very well versed in Robotech.... all I know is the SDF-01....forgot the model numbers on Rick Hunter and Roy Fokker's units.... going back to Stargazer.... there is a striking resemblance.... I'm kinda wondering if this new suit is based on any of the previous mass-produced units like the Dagger or Windam?

they're based on the MBF-P and M1 astray units - although heavily modified for civilian use only.

when they say civilian use, are they referring to civilian people or is this another group faction in the story? because if it's for civilian use, how come it is heavily modified? TIA.

its most likely a mobile suit used for non-combat purposes. considering it is an era of war at that time, the basic purpose for mobile suit development is for combat only - and it would take heavy modifications to "downgrade" a mobile suit for pure civilian use (remove onboard weapons, increase control sensitivity for manipulator management, modify the hydraulics for heavier lifting and such, optimize performance for prolonged use in space, increase durability, etc). as stated in the profile, ORB engineers who fled Morgenroete, Inc. (when the EA invaded ORB in GS) and Junk Guild were the ones behind the development - and considering that they were the ones behind the development of the Astray series - all they'll need is to modify one to meet civilian use standards. mahq has put up a profile of the civilian astray: www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/seed-stargazer/ut-1d.htmand here's another civilian mobile suit - the "raysta": www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/destiny-astray/mwf-jg71.htmwww.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/destiny-astray/mwf-jg71-yoon.htmwhen they say civilian use, are they referring to civilian people or is this another group faction in the story? because if it's for civilian use, how come it is heavily modified? TIA.

thanks brod V2. i thought they were just another faction in the SEED universe.
btw, just finished watching the raw STAGE-3 file of stargazer. as usual, bitin. hehehe. i think that's it. that's how they promote the MSV line of Stargazer. wish the battle between Noir and Stargazer were longer. i notice also that all the weapons & accessories of Noir that were featured was only the pistol beam guns & the use of his rocket anchors. he use one of the beam blades once in Stage-2.

some additional notes from aeug.blogspot.com:The official site added info to its GSX-401FW Stargazer profile: "The back-equipped Voiture Lumiere is an interplanetary thruster and a revolutionary propulsion system the Stargazer, developed with the intent of forging through vast solar system regions, is equipped with to make voyages into interplanetary space unaided. Named after 'radiant bearer' in French (note: the exact English wording of this is very debateable), from the ring-shaped structure, which freely transforms by means of a variable arm mechanism, the system generates thrust with high amounts of g's for long periods of time, accompanied by a vivid luminescent phenomenon."
note: i have absolutely no idea wtf this means...
