also when you need to upgrade be sure that you have all the very important components like processor and motherboard because these are the two important components to run your computer. Also another thing to consider is a very good PSU or Power Supply And also when you upgrade be sure that it will stay with you for about 4 or 5 years before you make another major upgrade kasi mahirap na baka mag ka upgrade itch ka niyan hehehe .... When you upgrade eto yung mga brand na highly recommended when buying parts brands are very important because of there long term commitment.
Asus, MSI, Intel (for motherboard lines), Lite-On, Sony, Samsung (for Optical drives namely DVD-RW), LinkSys (for Networking purposes) Seagate or Maxtor (for hard drive) Kingston, PQI, Geil (for memory brands) Enermax, Task (for PowerSupply line never trust P4 Dynamo PowerSupply stick to the brand don't know why dahil yan sinasabi ng marami) GeCube, PowerColor, Palit, Inno3D, Leadtek (for Videocard Brands)

er, i've had 2 incidents wherein my video card blew up on me and ironically the brand is Inno3d...
maybe i will try out an AMD processor... there's always a first time for everything... so what speed and specs should i have for it and the mboard?
so it'll be an AMD processor and board with 512mb memory (kingston?!), and i think i can still handle an 80GB hdd (but which brand? sabi nila masirain daw yung sa malaysia? or sa singapore?) what about the power supply? 500watts ok na ba?
also what about the casing? black sana with a side fan and USB (2 or more preferably) port in the front... i think there are also casings that have slots for memory cards (SD, MMC, etc?)

Yes I don't recommend Inno3d, they're considered the low-end brand, fans die out in 2-3years. Try using MSI/Leadtek/ASUS, some of them even has fan monitoring tools w/c alerts you if the fan drops below allowable rpm.
As for RAM, Kingston/Kingmax/Apacer/Geil/Samsung are all good, except for PQI w/c is considered a low-end brand or high-end generic.
As for power supply, I recommend branded ones, don't use the ones bundled in casings. You'll notice power supplies bought separately are much heavier than the bundled ones. 400W should be enough.
Casings will depend on your aethetics, just pick the one with adequate ventillation.

guys, i need your suggestions on giving me specs/parts for a complete package for a PC unit - my budget would have to be around 20-25k. here's some of my preferences: - i still dont trust a celeron (as far as i know it slows down through age?!) henceforth i prefer a P4. - im not really much of a speed/fancy/coolness freak as durability and performance is all i need - for use of managing/basic editing of images (rotate, resize, etc) - use for DSL browsing through the internet - 15 inch LCD or basic monitor is fine by me. - no need for expensive soundcard stuff - burning to CDR-RW / DVD-RW/R/+R/-R for back (pls enlighten me on this one) - multiple ports/fast transfer of files from USB flash drives - at least 5 years life (i'll invest on a 512mb memory) - good decent video card - im not a gamer at the PC, thats my PS2's job. - i already have a cd-rw dvd rom combo (lite-on) that i never used for more than a year already Hi V2, I know a PC supplier in Pasig who offers a brand new PC that's well within your budget. Here's the specification: Pentium 4 2.4GHz 512MB RAM 40GB HDD 32MB video card On board Ethernet 100/10Mbps (for DSL connection) On board Sound Card 2Ch 15" Monitor, Keyboard, mouse (all are black) Comes in black casing as well. The package has no optical device, but since you have a lite-on CD-R/RW this wont be a problem. If you prefer a DVD+/-R/RW drive grab an internal drive 16X speed would set you back about 4K. The above PC package is about 22K when i last checked. the supplier offers a one year warranty w/ all the HW components. I'd advise that you get a DVD+/-R/RW drive for backups, capacity for each disc is 4.7GB for a single layer dvd+/-R media. I dont think there're dual layer blank discs available. media is also cheaper than cd-rs, blank cds are at 700MB a piece and 7 pesos is the most reliable i got from cd-r king, for the same price you can get a dvd-/+r media with almost 7 times the capacity.

My present video card was an inno3D 6600GT and an inno3D FX5200 before and still working the Inno3D FX5200 was already 3 years old all doesn't seem to have problems Overclocking your video card will probably be shortening the lifespan of vidcards. 450 or + Watts of PSU is a must because of growing need of power through each of the components when you upgrade. When in terms of hard disk drive Maxtor or Seagate brand is the best brand you will ever get. hmmm about the casing maybe depends on your taste because there are lots of casing to choose from or what type of casing to use. Also when you upgrade to an AMD be sure to have a good Fan like Thermaltake Volcano is a highlyrecommended brand dahil yun din ang gamit ko sa Pentium and AMD cpu ko eh.
