Saturday was one of those days that made me think that it sucked to be in a band, but hey, it was nice to meet you and hang with you guys. ;D And I was able to buy both Starscream and Sideswipe yesterday and today respectively. And there are tons of stocks of The Fallen in my neighborhood mall. ;D

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Sideswipe Character Bio: Sideswipe was built to fight. He is sleek, fast, and single-minded in battle, focusing on his enemy with absolute attention. His blades are a shining blur as he leaps through the air, twisting to avoid enemy fire. Converting from vehicle to robot at blinding speed, he uses every trick in the book to get close to his opponent, and put his powerful swords to work. Thoughts: Probably one of the best designed Autobots from the movieline, IMHO, Sideswipe looks very sleek with a very bada$$ design. I had to wait for hours during the toy launch for me to be able to get this but it was well worth it. The new ROTF toys sports a new "Mech Alive" technology, similar to the "Automorph" gimmick they used on the first line of Transformers figures. In Sideswipe's case, we can see this with the swords (when the blade is moved downward, the opposite blade would swing down) and the knees (Knee plates move out when the legs are bent). The double sword weaponry is probably the best part of his design, making him look visually appealing. What makes this one different from Prime's version is that they look sleek (that word seems to be used a lot when describing Sideswipe, eh?) whereas I find Prime's to be a bit awkward and uncharacteristic. Added to this is the light-weighted body design and roller-blade type feet, you would anticipate a ninja-esque fighting style from Sideswipe once the movie hits theaters on June 24. Vehicle mode is just outstanding overall. The blades are, however, looking a little loose when transformed from bot to alt mode and I'm not that big a fan of large panel lines (i.e. Universe Ironhide/Ratchet). The silver color is ok albeit reminiscent of Jazz's Poltia Solstice alt mode. It would've been nice if he were a bit more distinguished through another color. His G1 lamborghini red would've been nice to retain but oh well. Things to look out for though: The transformation is easy enough from alt mode to bot mode and back but one might feel a little apprehensive about the locking mechanisms. You need a bit of force to initially un-hinge the front portions of the car and the arms when transforming. Also, the locking mechanism for the chest becomes loose quite frequently. It's not too much of a problem for me but some would consider it an issue. My gripe is the design of the legs. It's not very stable since there are no ankles for the feet to fully lay down on the floor. Since there's a lot of kibble in the back, it tends to fall down even on standing poses. Without proper support from the legs, it's a challenge to keep him standing up hence the mis-transformed legs in my photos. I had to utilize a stand for action poses. I'm hoping that they correct this on his Human Alliance version release coming out later this year. Otherwise, it's an outstanding toy and one I would recommend for any Transformers fan. ;D Sidenote: Forgive the background. Small house, little options. Hehe.

thanks! definitely one of the most favorable designs in the ROTF lineup. i'm waiting on his Human Alliance release as well. i'm hoping they improved on the feet on that release. @gn i've heard that Sideswipe will have a big role in the film. yeah, i hope he doesn't end up like Jazz too. @vic uh.... haven't gotten around to opening him. hehe. still trying to decide whether i want to keep it MISB.

wait, what's special about the Human Alliance release?

the Human Alliance release is suppose to feature their human counterparts as depicted in the movie i.e. Sideswipe and Sgt. Epps, Sam and Bumblebee, Mikaela and Skids, etc. Each bot has parts to accommodate the human forms both in bot and alt modes, meaning the humans can ride them.
