rainero, v2, raps, and mias =- thanks, thanks, and thanks! if only there was a bigger size detolf, i'd be all over it already.
GN-X =- salamat! i'm glad you like it. MG hazel would be awesome! if bandai would only bang their heads together, maybe we'll see mg hazels soon...coz i'm sure they hguc kits sold very well for them...

Next Project: 1/144 HG Gundam Astraea i've learned so much from my previous project - hazel custom....so i think it's time to challenge myself once again with another modding project with this gundam astraea... i only plan to make some minor mods here and there coz i'm in a rush mode coz the summer here is almost over, and i want to finish this before then....coz when the cold and fall weather kicks in, i won't be able to spray flat coat, so i would have no choice but to wait til next spring or summer to finish this job which i don't have the patience to....so my goal here is simple, quit being picky and finish fast, stupid!! so here we go.... first, i've drilled in some holes on the back side of the feet, and put in metal accented tubes to the side of the feet... put in a screw in the opening of the shoulder....i also plan to add some details in it later.... another drilling involved in the stomach area to put metal tubes in, and also i've cut out the side panel of the waist to install a couple of "pistons" inside. and this is what i'll use for the pistons - IC sockets, these are the ones found in your computers... the installation of the ic sockets as "pistons"... and they're installed.... with the metal tube and pistons this is it for now... thanks for swingin' by, folks! ;D

very impressive ideas on the pins!
its great to see works related to the 1/144 astrea as its overshadowed by the 1/100!

v2 =-thanks! the pins idea came from another modeller's technique....i believe this is another cheap way of doing pistons.... i also agree with you about the 1/100 version, but it is the real kit that bandai actually created....i'm just giving some love on the 1/144... ;D qb =-haha...those are the silver-plated crimp tubes i got at a local arts and crafts store here....i got like 4 bags of them coz they're very cheap....i'll share them with you guys when i go there if you want some....

here's another update.... this time, it's mostly just detailing that the 1/144 lacked....i kinda wanna replicate the details of the 1/100 version into the 1/144 and add more of my own.... a couple of drilled holes and chiseled out the ends of both the feet pad armor (or whatever it's called) and the toe area.... added details to the knee armors.... added panel lines to the calves... drilled in holes inside the knee joint for the crimp tubes.... and also added some details on the shin and upper leg area just like the 1/100 version. drilled in holes for the ic socket pins for use as small boosters in rear.... chiseled out the side of the feet armors....and drilled in a metal screw on the ankles... and this is the tool that i used for detailing most of the things i did above.... 1mm micro chisel with the pin vise as a holder.... i really love using the micro chisel, it's so easy to use, very sharp, and it didn't take long to make those details.... as always, thanks for looking.... questions and/or comments are always welcome.

rainero =-thanks, man! i wish i can make this into an mg but i lack the skill to make an internal frame. ok here's another update before i airbrush this dude... after working on the legs, feet, and upper body in my last 2 updates, this time it's the arms and other neglected parts turn... added more details to the forearm by using new fav. tool, micro chisel ;D and the calve armors drilled in 2 holes to the lower abs area sharpened out the fins and ears with a nail file added panel lines in between the area of the shoulder / neck fin sockets (left: normal -- right: modded) and this is the other chisel that i used for panel lining, 0.2 mm bmc chisel, these particular chisels creates deep and accurate panel lines without grooving out the edges, and i believe keita uses these ones too! added small styrene sheets in the shoulder opening.... cementing them was pretty tedious coz they're very small comparison of the arms (left: normal -- right: modded) extended out the neck (same process as the hazel custom) neck comparisonnotice how the normal one in the back is kinda hunching? that's a normal thing for the 1/144 kits in which their necks are always hiding, that's why i decided to mod it and last but not the least, pistons on the side of the chest and this is how astraea looks like so far i might be able to start airbrushing next weekend, if nothing else comes up and i just hope it won't rain so i can do it outside.... thanks again for looking.
