Why can't they officially release the original Mazinger series and the others. All we have is Voltron.

a store in makati cinema square is selling cartoons burned on DVD, he has a DVD compilation of UFO grendizer. it's 31 episodes and is made up of a combination of the english dub done in the philippines back in the 70's and the force five version. i dont know how many episodes in the set were from force 5 but i know that episodes 1-19 were dubbed in the philippines, the rest of the episodes in the set are probably from the force 5 series.

for those who dont remember the english version shown in gma, daisuke was changed to BRYK and all of grendizer's weapons had a greek letter on it - alpha ray, beta ray, gamma ray, zeta slasher, sigma scythes...

comic sale central in greenhills beauty center has the 19 episodes of the local dub in 2 DVDS, P150 apiece and in VCD quality only. they also have mekanda robot and mazinger z, both english dubbed here back in the 70's.

if you want the force 5 gaiking and dangard ace series, there are auctions in bidshot for the VCD version but the quality is pretty bad.

they did. they were released in japan as region-2 and they only manufactured a few thousand copies.

only mazinkaiser and the 2 getter robo ovas were released in the us with licenses. voltron is coming out in september i think.

dancougar was released in the us but only in VHS with subtitles.

mazinger came out in the us officially as tranzor z, selected episodes came out in VHS and laserdisc.

daimos also came out in the us as STARBIRDS, a 90 minute movie in VHS format.

there isn't a big enough demand for these kinds of shows in the us... and here in the philippines, well... as you can see... voltes v and daimos are available in original complete VCD sets for a very cheap P2,000 per set but people still prefer the pirated version. go figure.

don't buy force five dvds from ebay. all those sets are vhs quality or incomplete. i know one guy who remastered almost every force 5 series using region-2 DVD video, the quality of his force five dvds are the best and i think he ships worldwide.

he is an arab i think, he is a HUGE fan of grendizer. here is his website:

the guy can be trusted. he sold me his original japanese DVDS of dangard ace and getter robo g. i also have japanese DVDR copies of gaiking and grendizer thanks to him. the only force 5 series he didnt remaster into dvd is spaceketeers [starzinger].
