AFAIK HCM-stands for High Complete Model. Means highly detailed. It will usually comes in 1/200 scale. I don't like the scale so I don't buy this. But it's like having an MG (or maybe even PG) at a mini scale.

let me put it this way: its like comparing adobo to karekare.
each toyline has its good and bad that makes them stand out to each other: in terms of scale, MSiAs are definitely bigger henceforth they win. hcm-pro however, are small and are the almost perfect "stress figure".
in terms of stability and gimmicks, both are at par as each specific toy has its good and bad: - MSiA SFreedom is double-jointed and high level of stability. - HCM-Pro SFreedom has detatchable dragoon units, has good weapons handling (HCM-pro has its hands molded into its weapons already) but has a weak level of stability due to its material composition. (here's some advice: hcm-pro units with wings have a weak level of stability)
so its best to search out review sites to see which of which version is better. lately transformable MSiAs are very much good (like the asshimar and gabthley). transformable hcm-pros are soon to come out (asshimar) and time will tell if they're better than MSiAs.

let me put it this way: its like comparing adobo to karekare. hahaha. nice analogy there V2 !!! to archaznable: if i were you, pick out an HCM Pro figure of an MS you like the most and see if you are satisfied with the toy line. HCM Pros arent that expensive naman e. so you can afford to spare a few bucks to experiment on a new toy ;D

as for pricing, HCM-pros are at par with MSiAs... but you'll be in doubt obviously because of the scale its in... parang bitin talaga. lately bandai's been focusing in releasing more and more HCM-pro figures so it means there's a good market for it.
ask me na lang if there's a specific MSiA/HCM-pro that you're interested in.

Are HCM pro's kits or they are like MSiA's? SGP MSiAs SGP. 1/200 scale. but for the size they are in very detailed (almost at par with an MG kit for its size) and quite poseable.

heres where bandai seems to mess it up in the name game...
although hcm-pro means High Complete Model Progressive: its made of HIGH quality material and since the figure itself is almost COMPLETE there's nothing left to assemble except to remove the weapons from their runners... so its technically a MODEL and thats all you have to do to be PROGRESSIVE... bleh. bandai messes up names just for the sake of the merchandise... tsk.
like patacat said, they're figures but they have details and gimmicks like kits.
