quick question:
has anyone used those compressed air cans that you can use for an ab instead of an actual compressor? how long could you use a single can given an average use of the ab (no heavy painting) on a 1/100 kit? TIA! ;D

Another question, sirs. I've been surfing through the net trying to get some online tutorials on READING japanese. Both Hobby Japan and Dengeki are really helpful in terms of showing new and older stuff via pictures, but I think it's going to have a whole lot more meaning if you can read it right ? Do you have a recommended Book instead, so that anywhere I go (sparetime without internet connection), I'll be able to read up and learn...I guess slowly and painfully . so far there's no actual english version of a modelling book dedicated to gunpla. what i do know is there there is this "scale modelling handbook" that teaches various stuff on modelling how-tos on scale models - airplanes, ships and reality based stuff. although its relatively old, it still one of the best english-based references around. the guys at mp have that and they're distributing it freely over there. just sign up and ask around. you will get to know a lot of stuff too. Thanks for the reply sir V2. I think my question was misunderstood. I was referring to a book on HOW TO READ JAPANESE . Anyway, very informative comment on free publication at the other site. @nad138 Are you reffering on "HOW TO READ AND SPEAK JAPANESE" tutorial??? Right now, the goal is Reading (and of-course understanding it, as the japanese language has a different sentence structure) but Speaking would be a bonus. |

does anyone know where i can buy the tamiya color paints and mr.color paints? there's also lil's in glorietta, park square one. if your near the south area, there's Hobbitoi in Alabang town center and Special toy center in festival mall. majority of their spray paints are mr.color. hope that helps amigo. |

i just bought blue, red, yellow and pink.. haven't decided on what to work on yet...

Hello guys, just made my way here after getting inspired by the wondrous works of sir vic01, PilapZ, GN 004, Tagabukid, raps, Lotur, hackundertaker, crim, no3Ljm, archaznable and to all those gundammers that i will not be able to mention.. nice work guys. ;D I really do love to display my kits on one of the boards but I guess there are only a few. I lost them before since my parents wanted me to dispose of them "coz of the evil presence behind it"..  So, in short- kakastart ko pa lang mag collect last quarter of 2007. I am a gundam builder but just basically building the kits- and then that's it. I would just want to start painting my kits and also like to thank all of you for your threads that gave me idea on how to build and paint one. If you won't mind, what kind of tools do i need and as well as the paint? either handbrushing, air sprays, panneling, and etc... Is that a good start to do those painting stuff on 1/144 scale?? I guess I was just motivated to do these things when i saw your kits on the boards.. Really cool guys!!  Hope you can give me tips on the tools, paints, or whatever things i would need to start with. Thanks!! |

Thanks!! first of all amigo, welcome aboard and i assure you, you'll truly enjoy your stay here! ;D it's good to know your into modeling the kit, that's great! ;D i guess the first question to your question is...(prang labo nun ah  ) what discipline do you prefer for painting your 1/144? do you plan to use airbrush? (ala amigo Vic01) spray paint? (ala amigo qb and me) hand paint? (ala amigo mhonthie and tagabukidph) there are some pros and cons of each. once you decide to choose the right discipline for you, you'll know where to start. i use spray paint and handpaint for detailing. i basically use tamiya spray paints for painting. that's just to give you an idea. again, welcome aboard amigo! ;D |

Thanks for the warm welcome sir PilapZ! I guess I have to go with the sprays discipline first since I really need to practice things with my hand before I go nuts with the hand painting... Pero OK naman yung basic hand paints on some very particular parts for the gundam (katulad yung mukha and chest).. What I really don't understand much is the portion where you need to put cement/ epoxy. Hehehe. That's just to say I'm worse than a noob.. ahahahaha.. Btw, I guess I'll go for sprays first before heading on some advanced skills. Do you have any tips on it? Thanks really sir, really appreciate the reply!  |
