Last weekend was the 5th toy convention in megamall. Here are some questions:
1. Your thoughts on the toy con?
2. Did you buy anything at the toy con?Was it a good buy?
3. For the next toy con,if ever, what would you like to see more?

I was there! GreatToys had a booth.
1. Just OK. I think the bootleg VCDs were not cool. 2. Two Bleach graphic novels from Fully Booked. Yes it was a good buy! The books had 20% discount. 3. Licensed DVDs for sale.

I think the toycon this year was a success; they had to stop selling tickets on first day due to the huge number of attendees than the venue could reasonably accommodate. And the cosplayers, sheesh ang dami! Natuwa ako doon sa nag-cosplay ng Astray Red Frame, sayang di ko sya nakitang rumampa dahil sa dami ng tao. >_<
I only got the microman Rei & Asuka in plugsuits at the event. I was thinking of getting the ExMSIA Justice but I'm not satisfied with the paint application on the stock they had at the event. So I had to visit the makati branch and get one from there. I also grabbed the GX-01r while I'm there. XD
I totally agree that they should get a bigger venue, it's been like this as far as I can remember. But it was fun nonetheless wading though the crowd while you go toy hunting.

;DWonderful!!!
That's all I can say. Spent my salary on the TOYCON baby!!! Hehehe, of course I had to budget some for food....
Overall, it was great!!! My gf doesn't like toys or comics or anime very much but she had a great time!!! Took pics as well of all the booths and the collections. My GF liked the superman statue so much she kidded about buying one!! Hehehe. I took her there on Saturday where we ended up staying for bout 6 hours. By the time we finished walking around, I had lots of goodies stashed! All of them TF's!!
I went back on Sunday at around 1pm with my two bros and my GF again! Gosh she was so taken by the event that she pondered starting a business of her own selling toys, plushies, and figures! (Made me choke a bit when she said she may have to ask me to run the store) I assumed she was kidding hehehe. My bros loved it as well since they're both into anime, toys, and comics (though not as engrossed as I am). ;D ;D. So, we went around the booths again and I once again ended up shelling more money than I thought. At around 4pm, we were all so tired from walking around we decided to leave with our hands full nonetheless. My bros bought a handful of comics each and some DVD's!!! I was so taken by some of the items for sale that I considered withdrawing from my credit card (bad idea so I thought better of it). Anyway, I bought myself some DVD's including 2 sets of the complete series of VOLTES V (one set to my gf)and we topped the weekend off by celebrating at Yellow Cab Pizza. My GF treated us since we had no more money to shell out. hehehe.
Overall, the TOYCON was a blast! It was very successful I believe, it was fantastic, superb, marvelous, and overwhelming *SIGH* It was great!!! The toys, the comics, the entertainment, the publicity, the great shopkeepers who gave us all such good deals, (Malvs! Thanks for the TF's bro, great deals from ya!), and all the officers there who were very accommodating to us all.
I'd like to mention that the COSPLAYERS were a blast. It was like Halloween!!! But even better coz the costumes were all great!! The girls were looking mighty fine too especially the one who dressed up like Jamie (from Voltes V). hehehehe ;D ;D
I don't remember being this happy and the TOYCON really proved that such boyish dreams and childhood memories of the things that we love so much do in fact exist to keep us healthier, happier, and our lives richer. Hats off to the organizers, I will never forget it!! ;D ;D
TOYCON 2006 Rocked my world, (I'm pretty sure 2007 will be even better!!!) ;D ;D

Some of my observations on last Saturday's toycon... 1. The cosplays are getting bigger and better every year, and the photo-op with most of them is really a BLAST! ;D
2. I found it very hard to shop for toys at the various booths, numero uno, the lighting was quite dim, numero dos, the overall spacing between booths felt very cramped with the huge number of people passing by, and numero tres, I was too distracted taking photo-ops with the cosplayers... ^^;;;
3. Most of the cosplayers were very nice and accomodating to the fans, heck, it doesn't at all feel embarassing to ask them to pose with me, hehehe...
4. Even with the huge crowd, the place did not become rowdy at all, which goes to show that most of the people who went to the toycon are well-mannered and very forgiving to the inconveniences, in the name of toys, collectibles and cosplays... ^_^
5. Overall, I enjoyed my experience with the toycon albeit the inconveniences, and hopefully, next year it will be a much better and convenient experience for everyone... ^_^

it's more of an 'Anime Media' Convention than an actual TOYcon. It's overrun by Cosplayers and Online Games.
Sana it goes back to basics, like the first and second Toycon, where TOYS are the real focus of the event. You can find vintage, unique, up and coming toys, and definitely find great bargains on second hand and brand new toys.

if you eventually make it like that, there would be less promotions and such - after all, most "conventions" are based on advertising/promotional support. heck, it'll be bad and hard to turn down those kind of companies that would provide financing to the organizers. to put it short, it cant be helped. besides in my opinion, the "national culture" of otakus is closely related to mmorpg (or how the abbreviation is) games.
my suggestion? change the title to an otaku-con, otakon or something. it's a lot more "general specific" that way.
