my voltes seems loose in the groin area. is that normal? it almost toppled over several times because it bended over due to this. this happens when i push the joints upward to hide the groin protrusion. i might have missed something in the instructions...does anybody have solutions or has anybody encountered the same problem? thanks

the unit bents to its front because the unit is top heavy because of the diecast metal content.
regarding the push in of the groin area, lets consult with goldrich on that matter..

Hehe, just push it in as deep as you can. There's no click or locking sound though. As long as the groin joints are hidden from the front view that means the center of gravity for the toy is more or less in the middle. If that doesn't work then try tipping Voltes to the back a bit, kinda like he's sticking his tummy out. that should balance it. Gold

I have been checking my SOC GX31. Hopefully I can answer some of your concerns.
1. Volt lander antenna: well it seems to be the unbreakable type plastic. But pulling it seem to bend the plastic giving it a bent antenna look. So all i do is get a piece of credit card / plastic prepaid phone card. shove it into the antenna in the folded position, and you should be able to fold the antenna without applying too much stress on it.
2. Crewzer 1 not locking into place. Have inspected and there is no tab. But there is a way to make crewzer one stay in place. From head position, as you fold it to aircraft mode. Put a slight tug while folding it, when the ship gets in place, release your 'slight' tug, the ship will pull itself as if tightening itself back to position. (in tagalog, parang naka-ipit into place) dunno if this will cause paint chiping issue though.
3. Uneven paint on voltes' mouth Are you referring to the nose portion? If yes, it is only the shadow generated by the light. look at your voltes at a different angle, it should look fine.
4. Hernia problem: This is a design limitation. If you push the joints back behind the shorts, if you look at voltes side view, the legs of voltes is not centered to the shorts. The legs will be positioned at the back of the shorts. So center of gravity will shift forward, making voltes to topple forward. To eliminate this issue, you have to pull the legs forward to the center of the shorts. So one have to choose between aesthetics and stability.
One way I found to eliminate the problem (I am a bit OC), pushing the legs into the shorts plus preventing it from toppling forward is to spread the legs a little bit. and twist the thigh outwards by 15 to 30 degrees, and you will have a much stable voltes.
Some problems that I have found on my unit: a. voltes left ankle ball joint is really loose. So you can't do much poses with voltes if the weight is more to the left foot. You have to do a lot of balancing to achieve it.
b. voltes right shoulder, raising the arm sideways will not leave it in position. The joint is also loose. Unlike the other shoulder which is tight.

The paint chip on mine was caused by connecting the frigate and lander while the rocket launcher/wing of the frigate was folded. This resulted in contact that caused the paint to chip. However when in Voltes V mode, when the frigate's rocket launcher/wing is closed this is totally covered. And when in Lander mode, it's not visible because it's part of the surface of the lander that closes together.

Yap I agree with those who commented but with regard to the paint chips or scratches mine is free of those!

Hmm...I was planning to buy that someday but it seems that some who had already it had encountered problems (mostly factory defect).

What are the problems you guys encountered or think will encounter with Voltes? Heres what I noticed: 1. Pegs connecting Volt Lander seem to be fragile. After connecting the two parts together I was scared to pull them apart. It felt like putting to much pressure on it would cause the connectors to snap. 2. Watch out for the connector which snaps on to the ball joint just under Landers cockpit (ankle joints). If the weight is distibuted unevenly Voltes tends to topple over. 3. Connector joint which connects Frigate/Voltes legs. This joint looks like two shafts joined together. To much movement can cause a loose thread with these joints. Go easy on the posses. 4. Be careful with Voltes smaller built-in hands . (I realy dont get Bandais logic with this one aside from them being used for the Voltes Bazooka gimmick. Theyre smaller that the detachable hands.) The pegs which connect he hand to the wrist are quite fragile. Once they snap out of place they are difficult to put back and the pegs tend to loosen up (think gashas when the rubber tends to soften). 5. Antenas on Frigate and Lander look like they can break easilly Basically for me the problems I saw came from Frigate and lander. So far I havent seen any paint problems on mine although paint chips could be a problem if you keep on combining Voltes. Still despite it I still think this is one bad a$$ toy!!!! ;D I guess when buying your SOC GX-31 VV just make sure that you check it first before leaving the counter and ask the seller about what you gonna do upon encountering problems. The SOC GX-31 VV that I bought is in good shape however there are certain suggestions that I would like to petition to bandai the next time they will make another one...Volting in is powered by a the ultra electromagnetic force isn't it? Would it be better if the SOC GX-31 VV connection is also into magnet? Of course Crewzer 1 or the head of Voltes has a magnet underneath for connection purposes, how about the others? This magnets will secure the connection even more once volted in and it will make the toy more sturdy giving you confidence when playing! ;D Aside from that, Crewzer 1 should have been built a bit bigger than the size it has now and the bomber 2 landing wheels at both sides should not be detachable, it would be better had it been done the way the front wheel has on the cockpit. The chips issue must be given remedies by Bandai itself, furthermore the owners should be extra careful when playing their Voltes V to prevent paint chipping.Lastly, they should have completed the cockpit pilot other than Steve in crewzer 1...... How about the Boazanian Beast Fighters? Is bandai planning to make them? Hope so coz it will make your playing more complete!!!

Mines left shoulder no longer holds its position (obviously, a loose arm joint) and I'm still looking for a way to correct it.
Still, I believe that it is a great toy but then again that does not mean that its perfect. It's got few design problems, but that does not also mean its a lemon altogether. For me, just looking at it for hours and reminisce those good ol days makes the toy worth every peso I spent for it.
