Is it worth it? hmmm depends on every other persons point of view i guess...
a lot of different factors bunched together to make the Mekanda DX giftset one of the MOST hardcore of hardcore diecast robots..
- unpopular cartoon - Mekanda DX was an expensive toy for its time - low production run - made by BULLMARK that was about to go bankrupt at that time
Most bullmark toys including vinyls, kits etc are all with CRAZY prices!
Kim Castro was lucky his parents bought him that set when he was young.. he told me its missing the outer box and the toy isn't in superb condition..

All I can say is that if you are a real vintage lover who wants his super robots die-cast heavy (mekanda dx is super heavy), mint as new, rare as can be, one that would really complete your collection (or if it is the missing link for your sets completion) and you have the extra resources... by then this item is really worth it, BUT if one of these reasons is lacking... think otherwise. I do believe we collectors always look for whatever he/she thinks will quench his/her thirst for completion. For comparison, during the 70's(1977 to be exact) wherein a dollar is worth 8 pesos and MEKANDA DX is not yet a rarity (althought it's already a lil rare during that time) and not yet a Vintage item..... it cost around 350 to 400 pesos. Am not really an expert when it comes to a'preciation or de'preciation of a certain item....What I know is that as an item gets older, rarer and becomes a hot item to recon with, its value really sore up. My mother bought me a mekanda robot (not the big dx one that can separate but just the small one)in 1977 and it's only worth 80p, I don't know how much it's worth now. Am just not as lucky as Kim Castro is,cause my mom didn't buy me that DX one(sayang) and maybe because I did not put much effort on crying and doing store tantrums by then,hehehehehe..... What makes me really wonder is how come it's (mekanda dx) much too much expensive than a Voltes V in a box when a Voltes V is more expensive( 500-700 pesos ),depending on the mintness of the box and toy, during that same time. Just a lil ad about Mekanda: It was aired in the Philippines on 1977, Mondays, 4:30 - 5:00pm, GMA 7 pitted against Baratak(Balatak),could not recall if in channel 2 or 9(oh no.... my memory's getting low). A strong super robot that can be activated when 3 different jets combine to form a big superjet that attaches at its back. It's finishing weapon are 3 separate missiles that combine to form a big ram like supermissile. img241.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mekanda8bk.jpgmalvs, remember during one of my trips to gt-taft ... you told me you have a complete vcd or dvd of mekanda?? can I have a copy, for how much?? thanks

I invented a computation for inflation.. comparing Voltes V Godaikin with He-Man Masters of the Universe..
If Voltes V Godaikin was sold in Toys R Us (TRU) for US$75 in early 1980s and He-Man action figure was US$2.50..
fast forward now.. He-Man 2002 Action figure is US$7.99 at TRU, so thats a 320% inflation, if Voltes V was US$75 then, so after 320%, thats a US$240 toy, just like buying a toy a bit bigger than Soul of Chogokin Zambot 3, SOC Dancougar etc..
That is my personal assessment, not some thing I read on the net..
I got the idea because of the Godaikin Voltes V in my collection which has a Toys R Us price tag of US$74.99.. eheheh thanks

image uploaded by wingseyemdWow! This art makes him even more cooler than Mazinger Z. It would be kinda nice if Bandai makes him the next SOC combiner GX-33. Does someone here knows where I can get his opening "Tri Attack" mp3 & information?

Actually, the said picture came from a website which I could no longer recall. I copied it years ago from the said site and made it my desktop theme for quite some time. Right now, am trying to locate the said site in order to give proper credit to the creator of the art work. Likewise, years back I was able to locate a site wherein all the themesongs of all the super robots can be heard and downloaded. Am also trying to locate it...... let you know faisajin as soon as said site's located.

To wingseyemd: Thanks for the great picture! To shadowstrife: For me, if you're really a hardcore vintage super robot collector, this is worth it. But I'd still prefer if the toy was made by Bandai for a SOC line. ;D It'll be more affordable than 601,000 yen!!! SGP
