so what can u guys recommend??? a binaltech or an alternator??? BINALTECH!!! Hehe... Isn't it obvious that I'm a binaltech collector. ;D This is a quote from the great Malvin himself. ;D If you just want it for display, get the Binaltechs, but if you want to play with it or for customization, get the Alternators.SGP

Go for BT's if: 1) you're a diecast junkie 2) want it for display only (misb) 3) if you can afford it Go for Alternators if: 1) wanna play with it ;D 2) if you are on a budget BT's and Alts do not differ in transformation. Hope this helps ;D

agreed. "substance over style" is a great way of putting it, Anakin.
Proto's right, too, the transformation and everything is exactly the same for both types... besides, each camp has its own "exclusives" - and just a few at that, not enough to warrant siding with one or the other solely for them. ;D
- last "i'd get Alts, myself, and a couple of BTs, given the chance" maximal

TF fans....just want to know whats the difference between an alternator & s binaltech??? which has more die-cast in it??? difference between G1 commemorative series & G1 book re--issue... price comparison??? planning to start colllecting but dunno details....ur 2 cents is highly appreciated...cheers Please ask yourself this question first. Am I just collecting or do I have plans to sell it in the future? If you're just collecting get the Alternator version this is much cheaper from its Binatech counterpart and pretty much looks the same except for diecast parts and packaging. For G1 re-issues you can buy re-issues from Hasbro which is also much cheaper than the Takara version although they are quite difficult to find right now. My advice is wait for the classics version since this are inspired from its G1 counterpart. Now if you want to sell it in the future as an investment, then by no means collect Takara version since this has high re-sale value and never depreciates just as long as you keep it sealed and in mint condition. Did you know that a mint AFA graded G1 Optimus Prime was listed currently at 1,500+ in eBAY? ;D To keep it simple -- Hasbro is less expensive than Takara. Toys use their value once taken out of the package ;D so the most logical reason is to buy two if you plan to sell it a higher value in the future ;D pretty expensive ha ;D

However, they are not entirely made of diecast. 3) Yes. Take note that Takara-Tomy has stopped producing the BT and BTA lines.

So far Takara Tomy is releasing TFs scarcely. A couple of 'KISS' toys, which is basically IMO Binaltech jumping the shark with making the toys all plastic yet the same price, some PVC girl and a radio show that only those fluent with Japanese would know or understand. Only advantage is the superior paint and the upcoming releases Hot Rod and Autorooper look really good, but this is still a step down from Binaltech.
I think the collectibles now are Titanium and Classics. Classics is shaping up to be one of the best TF lines ever with massive homages and allusions to G1. Hopefully this new line would sway even the strongest G1 purists to purchase the new toys.

You nailed it right on the head The only dissappointment I feel for the Classics line is guess what?.... Those box art! Had they included it then it would certainly give G1 a run for its money ;D plus Optimus prime has no trailer
