The TF Movie Toy
Hasbro will be re-releasing 20th Anniversary Prime for the 20th Anniversary of the original TF movie. It is said to have "movie related accessories with a new movie deco." Now, this could be just a straight re-release, but my guess would be they give us either the Takara non-battle damaged version or a complete new redeco. Could we get a white Prime for when he dies? Or will it be Magnus? I think my first guess is the most probably. What about the new parts? My honest guess is that we won't get anything new except maybe a copy of the movie. Honestly, what else could they put in from the movie? It's slated to be released in October
I checked up on this one with my buddy Chris, who works at TRU, and he said they have a new SKN for a 20th anniversary Prime (not the old Prime) in their computers.
The TF Classic Line:
Deluxe
Optimus Prime (with out Trailer)
Bumblebee
Starscream
Hot Rod
Astrotrain
Grimlock
TBD (To be Decided)
TBD
All of these are set to be released in October except for Grimlock, Astrotrain, and the 2 TBDs, which are set for February.
Voyager
Megatron
Jetfire
Prime with trailer
Soundwave
Megs and Jetfire are set for October and Prime and Soundwave for Feb
Yeah...I'm marking out too.
Let's start with Prime. We get two of them? That almost seems a little strange that they would put two out of the same figure. I wonder if the deluxe will also be the same toy in the larger size, but only with a trailer. I wonder if the trailer will be similar to the 20th Anniversary one Action Toy House is creating or if it will be something completely new.
Bumblebee is a fan favorite and a great choice. Starscream is in the same boat.
Grimlock? I wasn't expecting that, but I'm by no means complaining. I can't wait to see how it looks.
Hot Rod should be a nice toy considering what they could do with a new mold for him. Think about it...instead of pull down legs he could have flip out ones that have multiple joints, better arms, but keep his same facial look and have the yellow fin? Hot Shot is going to be jealous...
I wonder how many cassettes we'll get with Soundwave...
Megatron is an obvious choice, but I' wondering how well the gun looks.
Jetfire? I wasn't expecting him either. Let's hope we get more of the Skyfire look on this one.
Prime would whoop the Pink Panther's Goofy Ass
"No Mass Shifting" is the news of the week.
I find this strange only because this was what was originally said, then they said "ok we'll do some mass shifting, and now they take it back. The joys of Hollywood politics
Honestly, I don't see a problem with it. Transfans understand the mass shifting conundrum, but imagine a "normal" person seeing the concept. Worse, imagine them trying to explain it. Oh, I know what you're saying. There will be a dorky looking guy with a Prime shirt on trying to explain it to a guy and his family. They'll lay out the whole "black hole theory," how the extra mass/parts of TFs goes to a mystical black hole somewhere in space (or the similar theory of a negative universe where it goes...). I think that would go over real well.
The origin story has to be simple so people can process and believe the concept. My biggest pet peeve with movies is when they go outside the realm of belief within the context of the story. What do I mean? Ok, you suspend your belief for all movies. It's what makes them enjoyable. However, you're given a set of boundaries in which to understand and comprehend the movie. When Batcars start "flying" then things begin to go outside that realm of belief within the context of the given boundaries.
My point being is a non-Transfan has to take in a lot at one time. Huge robots came to earth 4 million years ago from a planet named Cybertron and crash landed after the Decepticons (the bad guys) boarded the Autobot (good guys) ship in outer space when they were out looking for energon, which is their main source of fuel, but were reawakened when Mt St Helen erupted and the Ark began to reformat them into earth vehicle which the Autobot (good guy) leader Optimus Prime was made into a semi-truck and the Decepticon )bad guy) leader was made into a Tank, plus the Autobots have this cool thing called the Matrix...
You can see where I'm going. It's a lot to absorb. It's second nature to us, but as crazy as it sounds some people have never watched More Than Meets the Eye episodes 1-3 (gasp)!
