To clarify, it's NOT a sentai show, better yet, it is a league of it's own. It doesn't follow the norms of sentai shows.

Sentai literally means "task force". They are a fighting team composed of 5 members (usually). The female members of the squadron are usually 1 to 2 only.

The Gransazers series has around 12 members. ;D

Both sentai & gransazers fall under the category of tokusatsu or toku for short.

Toku is actually a japanese term for "special photography." This has a great deal to do with special effects. Later on, it has been used to classify Japanese live action, sci-fi and fanstasy for TV and movies.

This term is actually wide, and not to mention loose. Popular TV Shows and Movies under this category would be, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Kamen Rider (or Masked Rider), and Godzilla, which basically started it all.
