But when Tommy was introduced as the new White Ranger, for some reason it was automatic that he assumed responsibility for leadership. Oh yeah, a but of info, in DaiRangers, the Super Sentai equivalent of the show, the Fang Ranger (White Ranger equivalent) is actually a kid.

since we are on the MMPR.. just wanted to ask, in MMPR why did they combine zyuranger, dairanger, and kakuranger just to form one PR series?
were there any other combination of sentai shows for a PR series?

Actually, before PR become an individual series, the story lines were based from Zyuranger to Megaranger. IN PR: In space, we get to see a major battle from all the baddies from the first PR show (Zyurangers) to Pr:In Space(Megaranger) and the Space Rangers and the supporting cast members from the past eps like Signalman, Goldranger/Kingranger, etc. My guess why they combined the the shows was for storyline sake. They wanted to prolong the whole teens from Angel Grove thing and get as much stories from the characters. PR:In Space was like the finale of the storyline and from Lost Galaxy and up Saban and later on Disney may have wanted to stay away from the original plot since tapos na siya and make each PR episode a different one talaga. despite this however, there is still a small link between each PR episode and the first PR shows.

Apart from what JP said regarding the storyline, Saban may have thought that introducing new constumes too early would confuse the viewers. The show was popular then when it was released, so why change the formula? Why risk the ratings to plummet by changing the entire look of the show so soon. I guess the ratings eventually went down (some good things never last) so they had to adapt to its Sentai counterparts, and incorporate gimmicks along the way. Oh, and the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers spin-off from the 3rd season of MMPR was a disappointing effort by Saban to integrate the Kakurangers in the PR Series. It was fun nonetheless.
