Hi guys, I was just wondering if it is possible to re-apply colors on faded gashas and figures? I bought some figs and gashas real cheap from a Chinese New Year sale and I was quite happy with the purchase until I noticed some fading colors on the figs...
So now, I would like to do some touch-up work of my own but I don't know where to start, like what tools would I need, type of brush, type of paint that would latch on to the PVC...I'm a real newbie when it comes to this so I would appreciate any pointers you can share...Thanks!

By any chance the gashas were exposed frequently on sunlight? My gashas never fade in color but they are protected from sunlight. It may happen also to bootleg gashas as they use inferior type of paints.

Wow, I thought no one would ever reply... ^^;
I'm not really sure if the gashas are bootleg, the base stand says "made in China"...^^;
The gashas are quite passable when viewed from a distance but upon close inspection, the fading color on some parts are noticeable...Anyway, I'm just a little bummed since I really like 'em...

seele: would exposed sunlight mean direct exsposure? would glass help protect it?

seele: would exposed sunlight mean direct exsposure? would glass help protect it? Nope, might be even worse due to greenhouse effect, heat will build up inside a glass case when exposed to sunlight which may cause deformations. Suggested solution is to either move the case away from sunlight or place a curtain/drape on the case to block the sunlight.

I don't suppose you bought it from a certain high profile hobby shop in SM malls?

Colors shouldn't be affected even if room temp reaches uncomforable levels, but expect some gashas to fall down more frequently due to slight deforming which can be undone using hairdryer or hot water techniques.

At the price you bought it, it must be bootleg. ..and yes there exists a bootleg of that figure in one of the SM malls.

yan po ung box nya sa pics. d naman bootleg tingnan ung box. ung paint lang nya medyo sticky. but the store has other gashapons na hindi naman bootleg, maganda nga ung iba eh by yamato like s cry ed and suikoden. hehe.
ito nalng question ko, ano po naka sulat sa ilalim ng display stand ng lacus figure same sa pinost ko above? sakin may nakasulat:
copyright SA-S-MBS B. CHINA. 1
follow-up question, if ever i want to stick the parts of my gashapon para di na matanggal ulit, what should i use, mighty bond?

That's the same mark as I have, but it won't prove it's authentic. I've seen bootlegs with B.China markings. You'll be surprised how good are bootlegs now, I sometimes can't tell if its a bootleg unless I own an original. Have you tried washing it with soap? maybe it's just smoke/dirt stuck on the surface.

If there's a loose joint, I use silicone glue. The joint will stick but it won't be permanent, just pull it if you want to detach it again.
