Finally, I was able to convert my old dilapidated bookcase into my toy collection display cabinet. It may sound a lil odd BUT I have to give credit to "MILENYO"(Yes, that devastating typhoon) for finally giving me the much needed time to finish it. For 2 days of no electricity, no telephone coverage, no work AND not even a network signal for my cellular phone... I had nothing to do but hibernate inside our house. Lucky for me, I got a lot of spare vinyl tiles which I used to cover the background (am no good in painting). Then I requested our neighbor who owns a glass and aluminum shop to please open his shop and allow me to buy some aluminum and glass materials in the middle of the typhoon .
I tried to make the right measurements and alas, went to work.Sawed the aluminum bars, drilled it to the wood, cut the mirrors, etched it to refinement and sealed it to the aluminum platings ...... END RESULT..... A display cabinet measuring approximately 96 ins x 48 ins x 7 ins. for my collection . It may not be as par as other display cabinets there are but am proud that I created it on my own .
Next came one of the hardest thing to do...... arranging of the toys!!! It went here... then there.... then again it's better if it's there... oh my, it really gave me a lot of headaches. Finally, I surrendered....ahhh.... I just put in it whatever fits and will just try rearranging it again some other day....that is, if I have the time
Please be patient with them, am really quite dead tired when I stopped. You'll even notice some cigarette burns in the cabinet, hehehe...
