Transformers Classics Voyager Class MEGATRON Review

I was able to snag this awesome stuff with the help of drfeelgood of MechaPinoy. It's good that I got one since he's pretty much rare these days. Many people might have been skeptical about his colors, but let s just see how I rare this toy.
Now on with the review!
Classics Megatron is one of the Voyager class toys in the Classics line. He comes in this trapezoid box, sporting the "Flip out for robot mode feature", and behind are the pictures of robot mode, tech specs, and some textual description of the character.
Alternate mode: GUN / FUSION BLASTER
Here are some pictures of Megatron in his alternate mode. Since his alternate mode in G1 is a Walther P38, his alternate mode in Classics is also a handgun. The box refers to it as a Fusion Blaster. This time it's more life a colorful, harmless looking gun. The gun comes in purple, black, white, some orange, and translucent green with a few gold accents.
One cool feature of this gun is that it's big! Very worthy of a voyager class toy. Aside from that, you can take a peek thru the scope, you'll see a crosshair in green, like peeking through a nightvision goggle.
Summary of Alternate mode:
- big!!
- pretty colorful, which makes it really look like a toy
- cool scope feature
- it's very much like a more toy-ish version of G1 Megatron
I'll give the alternate mode a 10 out 10. I don't really see any significant flaws to deduct any points.
TRANSFORMATION:
It's my first time having a Megatron toy based on a gun, so the transformation is really different for me. Every thing from his torso and limbs are pretty much hidden around the huge white sides of the gun. The purple parts that you can see are the legs and arms. Transformation to robot mode is fairly easy, open the panels, move some parts, twist some joints and snap some panels and flip out the hands and head, and you're done!
While transforming him back to gun mode, I spotted some possible problems. When you assemble the arms, it's basically attaching two panels to the side of Megatron's body. Once you snap them in, it's VERY HARD to pull it out. Considering that the shoulders are in the same panels, it's kinda scary that when you try to open out thos panels, you are somewhat stressing the shoulder joints too. There's also a snapping connection when you close the "backpack", which is also very scary to remove when you turn Megatron back to gun mode.
ROBOT MODE: Decepticon Supreme Commander
Here's Megatron in all his glory. The Decepticon commander retains his popular face, and also his trademark gun on his right hand. The gun panels become some sort of wings, and his body is pretty much white, while his forearms and lower legs are purple with gold accents.
So far, he's pretty much filled with points of articulation, but his poseability is quite low. Why? Because those points of articulation are the snap-type ones, which kinda limits you on how much or how few you want his limbs to move. No ankle articulation either. So that's where I'll knock a few points off. He's much more designed to do leader-ish poses rather than action poses.
Summary of robot mode:
- big as well, and very worthy of a voyager class
- not too poseable even though he has lots of points of articulation
- retains his G1 style, including his gun.
I'll give the robot mode a 9.5 out of 10.
Total is a 9.75 out of 10!!! Awesome toy!
MY THOUGHTS: Well Megatron might not be that poseable in bot mode, but hey, this guy is the Decepticon Leader, and like Optimus Prime, he's not just your ordinary TF character. He pretty much retains his G1 theme except for the colors. For me the gun colors aren't really an issue, the toy satisfied me very much, and I would highly recommend getting one, since he's starting to get scarce!
EAT THIS!!
