ad: heh... i've been doing these shots for quite sometime now... im not up to challenging anyone but my own limitations i guess.

qb: yeah. even with two sources its still ends up with some shadows so i'll have to invest on an actual light tent instead you might want to check he following links on how to make a DIY light tent (though some links may not work anymore):

last month i was engaged in a business trip to suppliers located in various parts in mainland China and also managed to check out the local tourist scenes... and here are some of them. you can check all the pics here.

1st stop was Dalian - a progressive port city in liaoning province. its a really nice city - cool and windy weather since its near the sea and the building architecture is very impressive.

also, dalian is reknowned to have healthy relations with russia - hence the russian-themed buildings and establishments:

wierd thing is, i havent seen any russian chicks anywhere... must be off-season or something.




Moving up north we ended up in Dandong - a smaller port city between the border of china and north korea. a provincial type compared to dalian but looks teaming with progress and development.

it was also said to be one of the most advanced bridges during its time - since it can swivel to let big ships pass through:

next up is a jade factory... note the details on this lychee - and its made of real jade too!:


this guy is a national artist reknowned for his "sand painting". using colored sand he makes up painting and such (literally).

beijing aquarium - located inside the zoo. the facilities are good, but the maintenance is not as good as tokyo sealife park in my book.

here's the food items i've had during my trip to china.


gotta love the intricate details of chinaware:


a street of food stalls in dalian - since its near the sea, seafood stalls is very cheap here.


vegetarian noodles - pork-chicken soup base with fresh veggies and noodles:


pan-grilled squid. get squid on stick, squish with cement spatula downwards hot pan (ingenious no?). sprinkle with chili pepper and serve. enjoy:


steamed fishes (sorry, it was so good i forgot to take a pic of it):



kebab-on-a-stick. very hot:



stir-fried shrimps in chili and wansoy. never a shrimp person but man its so freakin'


as they say, "makulay ang buhay pag may gulay" (especially in the toilet - LITERALLY):


rice-sausage casserole. in hot stoneware place rice, add sliced sausages and greens, drizzle with sweet soy sauce. enjoy (while burning your tongue the whole time):


pounded rice cake. kinda like "palitaw" but with some cocoa. very addicting:


stir-fried sea cucumber. popular dish in china. very nutritious:


shrimps and squid in cashew and celery. addictive:


sliced whatever with greens. may be human, may be not. very addictive:


squished "dalag" casserole. get dalag from river then BOOM! - break head open with mallet to kill the wriggly Dark Schneider. sizzle with spices and sauces. enjoy:


spicy beef. typical beef with spices. very addicting.


aftermath:


strawberry ice cream. not sure if melamine-laced. carefully enjoy:


ham and cheese sandwich:


"okonomiyaki" sandwich. had two of these during my stay in dandong:


cold "taho" with soy sauce glaze. wierd but addictive:


peking duck at quan jude restaurant - you order one duck, chef comes in with dead prepared duck and bludgeons the meat off the bone it in front of you with juices and pieces flying. really good. afterwards, you also get a "certificate of eating here".


korean bibimbap. place rice in hot stoneware then add meats, veggies and generous hordes of chili sauce. burn your tongue as well as burn your soul. enjoy:


korean "half-half" hot & cold noodle. meat, veggies and noodles in their respective hot and cold half. i really enjoyed spending 2 hours in the toilet with this.
