I'm not a big fan of coated Gundams, no matter how "rare" they are, but I had to make an exception of this, because...uhm.. it's "Akatsuki"...duh!!!. ;D This pic. shows the same gimmick as the S.F. and Legend Gundam's Dragoon System with the blue jet stream. My main Gripe on this kit is the size, should had been a MG, or rather 1/100. Next is of course, it comes, coated, for my case, who loves to paint my Gundam, it's a bit of inconvinience, coz I will need to strip the coating before I can mend the gaps and paint the kit. Also the hands is fugly (typical of HG's I guess, but the Destiny is an exception) Well for the strong points. This kit has a new concept for the shoulder joints. I don't know about you guys, but this is way better for me (double jointed). Sorry for the blurry pic. coz until now, I still can't figure out how to take a close up pic from my digicam this one can be swiveled to different directions, unlike the older designs that can swivel up, down and sideways only. Also I like the construction for the legs, it's like a mini MGish, lot's of details and parts. The Shiranui pack is also decent, and of course with the inclusion of the "jet stream" for added effect. Conclusion: All in all, I think it is a decent kit, it will do well while you're waiting for an MG to come out. For my case, it is inevitable, because I'm collecting the 1/144 GSD series as well as 1/100s and MGs. ;D ....next will be the DOM triple threat........

Additional pics. This one, the Akatsuki with my current project V2 Buster Gundam, all primed up for me to check some imperfections before painting. ;D

I thought this kit comes with a stand. I was surprised that its not included The stand is not included. The stand that was illustrated on the box was the stand from other HGGS like Infinite justice and Destiny.

someone take a picture of it beside hyakushiki...!
ish sooo SHINY!!! ;D
those shoulder joints are constructed like the shoulders of the bigger 1/100 GSkits..
they allow abit of forwards and backwards flexibility..

nice... i might get this for my bro.. how much? oh, and for the digi cam.. there should be a button/option that looks like a flower, enable that. thats for close up photos yup he's right it's called macro mode used for really close up shots I use it all the time Typical of Bandai to release it as 1/144 - then if a lot of people like it they will then release a 1/100 version so if you reaaaaallllyyy like the kit you end up with both versions. A Cagalli Owoshi ver will also be released witch is practically the same cept for the back pack. Bandai = Evil Also not a fan of chrome plated stuff... - you have to strip it if ur painting it - Philippine air contains a lot of salt being surrounded by water and all and it eats up chrome - Costs more - Limited edition chrome ver like GP02 and recent Freedom are tooled the same as regular version unlike those that were really tooled for chrome like Hyaku Shiki. it messes up the chrome when you cut em off the sprunes unlike Hyaku which is connected to the sprune at the back of the parts. on an added note I heard that acid from human finger print also corrodes chrome finish... wear gloves when handling em Can't wait for triple DOM was planning on creating my own version with MG's but unfortunately will never fit on my display case. I think in this case 1/144 is best (Can't believe I said that)
