If i were to choose between an MG 1/100 Freedom and a 1/60 real detail Freedom. I'd still go for the MG. The Hi-mat pose matters for me kc eh... sa real detail the wings have a limited deployment angle kc juz like you said.

although the 1/60 real detail boasts of "real detail", it suffers horribly from weak posability. besides, its nothing more than a marketing gimmick.
as maldito mentioned, the MG is the best choice in terms of details and posability.

neodark hope i can explain very well on this subject matter. someone (sorry, i forgot who ), posted about the differences of FG, HG, MG, PG and Real Details before.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the acronym stands for and what's their differences:
FG = First Grade this is usually comes in 1/144 scales. it's famous for in the Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny series. this is around P400-600 each. details were almost the same with HG. but articulation-wise, it's the same with 'typical' action figure. shoulder/hips/thighs/neck movement is all that you can do.
HG = High Grade now with HG series. this is also in 1/144 scales but with a wider range of articulation. this will cost you from P999-1499. depends on the unit that you're buying. HG is famous for in the UC (Universal Century) era. it's called HGUC (High Grade Universal Century) kits. with HG kits, you can now move the elbow joints, knee joints, neck joints and has a lot of accessories and weapons. depends on the model.
with Gundam SEED series, it's called HGGS/GSD (High Grade Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny) kits. now, a lot of people called the 1/100 scaled kits of Gundam SEED series a HG series, which in fact if you'll look at the box there's no indication of Grades whatsoever. and since the details of HG classes of kits stuck with the 1/100 scaled kits of SEED series, we call them also HG 1/100. but i call them as NG (No-Grade) 1/100.
bonus: NG = No Grade as i said earlier, this is famous in the 1/100 SEED series of kits. one thing i can say with this series: this is just 1/100 scaled version of the 1/144 HGGS/GSD kits.
but in contradiction of my statement, there's this 3 NG 1/100 kits that i really like in the SEED series. the ASTRAYS! Red Frame/Blue Frame/Gold Frame Amatu (and their respective variants). this Astray kits has details and poseability capability of the MG kits. well, almost. you can check it in dalong.net website about this Astrays.
MG = Master Grade MG comes always in 1/100 scale. this is the bigger boxes you will see in most shops. and the MG label in gold color. expect to pay around P1000-4000. depends on the kit. i heard that the most expensive are MG: Sazabi, Ex-S (Sentinel), Perfect Zeong. (correct me on this, guys. ) with MG, expect a high-detailed armors, panels, internal frame and super-duper details. and ofcourse, the decals.
with the Freedom. you're correct on what you noticed. MG Freedom is a lot better compared to the (NG) 1/100 Freedom. with MG Freedom, you can do the Hi-Mat mode. the ones Kira always uses on the series. spread wings with the cannon in front. plus the rail guns on his hips (my favorite Freedom pose). with NG Freedom, in order to put the cannon in front, you have to fold the wing at the back. so no spread on the NG wings. unless you do some modding. and notice the head? you can see that the NG version is a lot taller than the MG's head. which i find it odd when it comes to proportions.
PG = Perfect Grade PG is scaled in 1/60. it will cost you around P7000-10000. depends on the unit and SALE schedule of some malls & specialty stores. hehehe. imagine, MG kits to be blown up in 1/60 scale? this is what you'll get: the PG series. super highly-detailed. lots of joints. a very detail internal frame. and lots of pieces and sprues. but, only a handful of numbers got the PG treatment. RX-78, Zaku (Red & Green), GP01/GP02, Wing Zero Custom, Zeta Gundam, Gundam MKII (AEUG/Titans), Strike Gundam & Strike Rouge.
RD = Real Detail Real Detail comes in 1/60 scale. but don't get fooled once you see the 1/60 scale on the boxes. you might think that this is a Perfect Grade, well, in fact it's just a normal 1/60 called Real Detail. only 5, i think were released in this series. Strike Gundam, Strike Gundam + Full Weapon System, Freedom, Impulse, & Strike Freedom [Lightning Edition].
IMHO, i call this a blown up copy of the regular 1/144 HGGS/GSD & 1/100 NG kits into a 1/60 scales. so what you can get on any regular said series, you will also get it in the 1/60 Real Detail series.
remember, in RD 1/60 Freedom, you still cannot do the Hi-MAT pose. bummer, huh?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
anyways, hope that helps. ;D
my 2 pesoses.

neodarkMG Freedom includes a display stand already, unless you really need a different flexi stand. btw, neodark, if you're into hands, better get the PG kits. i think it has all the finger joints. you can move it individually. with MG, you can move only the knuckle joints. I want a flexi stand coz im gonna displau it on top of my monitor for now, and i want some poses that are "Flying towards you" If they ever made a 1/60 PG freedom that can do the 1/100MG HiMAT pose then id definitely by that! just imagine the size of the stand..

I'll stick to the MG or the NG version muna. I'll pass on the PG's muna until i learned enough about painting/modelling kits.
