im planning to put another layer (glass) in the middle as to maximize the space.. but as i took the measurements, i found out that the new rei i got was a bit taller than half the height of the shelf ... still thinking what to do...

My suggestion would be to place it off-center, so that you can place the bigger figs to the higher shelf and the smaller figs (gashas) to the smaller shelf. It's up to you where to place the bigger shelf.
