just like to share one of my (lazy) panelling tips... 1. mask the side of the panel where 'overflowing' will occur (refer to my earlier diagram about the overflowing area)... 2. do the panelling via marker... 3. remove the masking tape. a good amount of ink should be 'inked'... 4. instantly thinned panel line... thanks for looking...

1)is the quality of spray paint almost the same as an airbrushed one?? Nope, the problem with spray paint is that you have little or no control on the amount of paint coming out of the nozzle and it could either provide a thick coat or have the nozzle covered with paint goo. Airbrush is the best way to go, but it does need a getting used to whether it's a single or double action type. I would suggest buying a cheap spray paint to learn how to apply paint effectively. For airbrush, I would suggest more practice because you will have to deal with a lot of things other than the spray, like moisture and air pressure. I would suggest the light gray one because you wouldn't have to use so much primer (sometimes you don't have to) before painting. I would suggest using the technique shown by Tagabukidph, because I personally don't use pens. The mixture should be 1 part paint + 2 part thinner + 1/4 part dishwashing liquid, if this is too thick add thinner. Paneling should be easy this way and mistakes can be removed with a tissue, but top coat it clear when you finish to avoid rubbing off. Good Luck

you can apply panel lines directly to the kit without paint or coating... some cheap alternatives are mechanical pencil, uni-pen, pilot drawing pen. but I suggest you use gundam marker.

you could use tech pens too amigo. but imo, gundam markers are a lot better coz the tip is very thin. it gets ink into the seams a lot easier. hope that helps amigo.

for inkwash panelling, is it ok to panel the kit after painting it? I mean, without the first layer of glossy coat?

some questions prior to prepaint... pardon the noobness its my first time ;D my TS cans are ready but the implementation phase is still rather sketchy: 1) are those basic "barbecue sticks" where you attach the parts? 2) and is it simple styrofoam used for the placement of the sticks? 3) what kind of tape do you insert to hold those parts into the stick? 4) are these ordinarily available sa bookstores? or should i go to hobby shops? TIA!

Pareng Lotur, to answer your questions:
1) Yes, those are simple bbq sticks you can buy from stores.
2) Yes, those are simple styrofoams. I get mine from the used ones from appliances' boxes.
3) Do you mean to ask what do we use to hold the part when we paint it? Others use rolled masking tapes or double-sided tapes. Others use blutack but me, I use alligator clips.
4) You can buy those from your local hardware store. Just ask for the smaller ones though, the big ones sometimes won't hold small pegs.

Well... I got mine from our local wet & dry market. ;D NBS also has them but they're the expensive ones. I prefer to settle with the cheaper ones. It's just for holding those clips anyway.

for inkwash panelling, is it ok to panel the kit after painting it? I mean, without the first layer of glossy coat? afaik, it's ok not to put the first gloss coat before the ink wash if you use a different type of paint for inkwash. but if you use the same type of paint, it's better to put gloss coat first.
now, just for safety purposes of the base paint (prior of inkwash), i think it's best to put gloss coat whether it's enamel, lacquer or acrylic. the reason for this, if ever you made mistake on the inkwash and erase it with thinner, the thinner will not mess up the base paint.
hope that helps. my 2 pesoses.
