I agree with that, that's why he was casted for the role. I hope he brings justice to tony stark.

According to their bios... Robert Downey Jr. is 5'9" while Tom Cruise is 5'7". I think height wont be that much of a problem with Robert since he will be wearing an armor anyway, he could easily be 6'2" with an armor/elevator boots. I don't think he's the right choice but as far as his acting goes there's no denying it. He's one of those actors who can play both good and bad guy and still shines. Next up... the armor design. Hope it rocks!

oh. well, 5'9" isn't bad. although it would look better on someone that is at least 6'. but viper is right, the armor could be molded in such a way as to make him look taller.

I think Robert Downey Jr. is perfect for the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man...he's a great actor....
cant w8 for next year...
you think Jon Favreau will allow Robert Downey, Jr. to wear the Iron Man costume at all times esp. in the action sequences?

you think Jon Favreau will allow Robert Downey, Jr. to wear the Iron Man costume at all times esp. in the action sequences? I don't think so at all times he maybe replaced by a stunt double in some sensitive action sequences -- this will be easy since iron man's face is all covered-up like spideys so you don't know who's inside of it and can be easy to render since no human face to paste and render. Based on the film's plot. Tony Stark was kidnapped and forced to create a super weapon but instead he created a suit of armor to escape. He eventually used the armor to extend his life and to help others as well. Mandarin is the villain on this film. With that in mind we can expect heavy drama on Robert's part and some very exciting action sequences involving his super armor. Also keep in mind that the first armor he creates is somewhat generic...using only parts made available so that would really be interesting. Ala McGyver!

I hope so. but ive a feeling that everything will be CG'd.

I firmly believe that we are going to see an actual Iron Man armor. I think CGI will only be used on complex shots and battle scenes but for close-up and others I believe an actual armor will be used otherwise it will look like fake. We just don't know what or which type of armor will Tony Stark don. I wish he goes for the old red and gold color scheme. We'll what we can do now really is wait.

lets hope the movie's producers will make the Iron Man suit/armor...so far they did a great job in making spidey's and daredevil's and the fantastic four's costume....
and i hope they are up for the job...but if it will cost them a lot of dollars maybe they would make a CGI Iron Man suit/armor...
who would be playing Mandarin? if you guys know John Lone (he's the antagonist in Rush Hour 2, The Shadow (starring Alec Baldwin), and some other movies) he's chinese or japanese-american and he would be perfect as Mandarin....

I still believe they will conjure up some pretty cool look armor for this movie. Hollywood can pull-it off remember the Thing from FF4? They went away to full CGI and came up with a "Thing" suit which is pretty clever and does not look fake at all. Anyway check out this supposedly rejected Iron man armor concepts From the buzz...Adi Granov is doing the armor designs...he's the guy responsible for the Ultimate Iron man armor design. I don't think Tony Stark needs to be buff for this role like six pack and pecks, remember he's supposed to be sick and alcoholic and that the armor serves as his life support system. We'll let's hope we get a comic book inspired Iron man armor. ;D
