26k for the ps3 is cheap already considering i got my gen1 ps2 for 28k... as for issues with the slimline, mine works awesome considering i've had it for a year an is seldom off 24/7. no overheating issues or bugs whatsoever. defenitely better than psp. my cousin broke his psp lcd in 4 months btw.
as for the final fantasy on ps3, i've seen the tech demo along with the interview with series creator. primary concern for ffVII remake is whether they're gonna change the story to attract new fans or stick to the old one to please the fans. problem is everyone knows the climactic scenes already such as the death of aeris...

My neighbor who recently bought the slim PS2 was quite unlucky with the unit...After only one month, the unit broke due to overheating issues, then he got it repaired...To avoid the overheating problem, he turns on the airconditioner whenever he plays games, after two weeks, the unit broke down again and the repairman claimed that the unit was damaged due to moisture that accumulated on the lens...Weird huh?!
On topic, I have both a PS2 and an Xbox, but I will not dare buy the PS3 when it comes out on its first year...The price is just too steep, and based on the price trends of consoles in the past, I expect the cost to go down much lower in 2 or three years...

let's look at the bright side, once PS3 hit the shelves the prices for the PS2 would surely go down ;D btw whatever happened to the PSX console, the colored white/silver box, the one that came out after the PS2? I still have that one the very first ever release of the bulky PS1 the grey thing the only problem with that is the lens itself it got busted hehehe matibay talaga yung unang release ng PSone na isaksak ko nayan sa 220 althou 110 lang talaga yung PSone umusok pero gumagana parin after 30 min. of rest hehehe .... ;D ;D

Well, I an tell you the difference between the first gen PS2 SCPH 10000 Japan and the US SCPH 200001, the first run model from Japan was heavier, the blower fan had metal "chicken wire" mounted and had a glitch which allowed some movies of different dvd regions to run. "Some" not all.

Good news? Phil Harrison. president of Sony gaming worldwide projects etc stated that this time around ALL games will be region FREE! (Learned their lesson to prevent piracy, which was a primary reasons to hack the system, this d@mn regional lock outs!) The exceptions will be the movies that play in DVDs or Blu Ray formats.

I think they would be able to fit in both the ntsc & pal versions of the game on a BD. Though I have a gut feeling that the PS3 will be the one to handle outputting a game to either NTSC or Pal. Parang wala ng designation na NTSC/Pal yung mga games, PS3 na bahalang mag convert.

Hi All,
I've got an XBOX 360 (Japanese version). Haven't had any issues so far, altho I do have to order games from online retailers that are either region-free or for Jap NTSC (can't buy any in Australia because they are all PAL). The overheating issues plagued a lot of units at launch, but now that people are a bit more aware of the problem and how to prevent it I don't think it is still a big issue. Have heard of some units just dying tho, but MS is quick to replace if within warranty.
Got a few games (Dead or Alive, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Battlefield: Modern Combat) and man...the graphics are just awesome! Definitely worth the price, especially considering that I don't have to keep upgrading my PC now just to keep up with the latest games.
Looking forward to the Nintendo Wii more than the PS3. The PS3 is just too expensive (approximately AU$1,000 or PHP40,000) and the Wii looks fun to play with.
Regards,
Dencio

Hey dude! You're very lucky to have an XBox 360. Well, I'm happy with my modified XBox. It keeps me happy. I dream of owning the PS3 pero after 2 years pa siguro. Too expensive and unreasonable for now. Pero I'd like to try out MSG4 of course... the graphics are really mind blowing!

Hi mattracker,
Thanks. Very happy with the 360. Had an Xbox before but sold that to get some funding for the 360. Some games for Xbox are supported on the 360 so can still play your old games if you decide to upgrade.
Hi fenrir72,
I've got DOA4 and it is very good. Have seen Rumble Roses and while the graphics are nice, have heard that the game itself isn't as hot. Check out IGN.com for a review. I highly recommend Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. I have also heard that Oblivion is very good, although I have no plans of getting it because I am not a fan of RPGs. Oblivion has the highest score in IGN for a 360 game, I think.
Regards,
Dencio
