Hi mattracker, Thanks. Very happy with the 360. Had an Xbox before but sold that to get some funding for the 360. Some games for Xbox are supported on the 360 so can still play your old games if you decide to upgrade. Hi fenrir72, I've got DOA4 and it is very good. Have seen Rumble Roses and while the graphics are nice, have heard that the game itself isn't as hot. Check out IGN.com for a review. I highly recommend Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. I have also heard that Oblivion is very good, although I have no plans of getting it because I am not a fan of RPGs. Oblivion has the highest score in IGN for a 360 game, I think. Regards, Dencio Thanks Dencio! Good to hear that you are enjoying your xbox 360. My unit is modified:80G HD and can play P****D discs bale. When I bought it, it was already pre-loaded with games. The problem with buying a new unit is: the games are really expensive. Unlike abroad, you can rent games di ba or usually, you can buy a unit with free games. Dito kasi the terms are different that's why people usually wait for the prices to come down.

Hi matt,
Yes I understand how consoles and games can be very expensive in Phils. Yes we can rent games here but it's actually quite expensive to rent. I rent a game overnight to try it then buy it if I like it. It would only take a few days (about 5) rental before you would have spent the same amount to buy it. And yes, you can get a few games with the unit when you first buy it tho you still have to pay full price for the games later on when you buy more.
The main advantage you guys have is that you can get much more games than we can, because of the cost. I remember when I was still in Phils and had a PS, I had a ton of games all in a shoebox. I think it was P30/game at the time. Here, you have to be really picky about the games coz its gonna cost a whole lot more.
With the 360 having its best features online and with the PS3 looking like it will be doing the same thing, I hope you guys don't have any problems connecting to the online servers. I know a lot of people there bought an original WoW so that they can play online. I don't really know if tinkering with the next gen consoles or playing P***D discs will work online.
Alex,
The 360 has Oblivion and FF. Have heard good things about those RPG's, but can't tell you from experience tho coz I'm not really a fan of the genre. Check out IGN.com for reviews.
Regards,
Dencio

Yep, FF XI is on the 360. Never underestimate the power of the dark side... MS is really trying to gain ground on Sony. Not only did they get FF on the 360, they now have GTA as well.

Basically late in the console shift for the FFXI series. It was initially exclusive for the PS2 but it was a pain to purchase 'cause it was a required bundle of the HD and modem parts.
BTW dencio, since you live down under, you are using the PAL format right? I've heard that the XBOX360 now takes in ALL formats. Is that true?

Hi fenrir72,
You are right about Australia being PAL, but I bought my 360 in Japan (cheaper) so mine is NTSC-J. The 360 is available in all formats, but you have to make sure that the format of the games you buy will match the console's.
Cheers,
Dencio

Well, how about in the case of MGS. At first, Konami wanted it as a solo franchise for the PS and PS2, but they released the Substance on the XBox and Acid for the GCube. Right now, I'm playing Castlevania Curse of Darkness on my XBox. All format games are okay so people can also enjoy what the others are playing naman. Fair is fair, ika nga nila. ^_^

I just read today that there are shops na pala in greenhills that are "modding" the xbox 360. It seems that they are using the "flashing" method so the unit can play p****d games which sell aroung P300-P600 per disc. Well, I think the mod-chip for the xbox 360 isn't that stable yet and of course, heating issues as per Fenrir72's post way back. Hmmm, seems the ingenuity of the Pinoy and Mods alike are coming up. The biggest challenge will be the PS3 because of the blue-ray disc... This will be interesting indeed...

I need to see a more attractive game library for the xbox 360, aside from DOA4...I once bought an xbox to play a certain volleyball game ^^;; , but right now, my xbox is really just collecting dust...No matter how powerful the hardware is, the game libraries are the "measuring stick" of any console...So fior now, I'll wait for more games and see which console caters the games I like... Microsoft jumped on the headstart for the console wars, Sony's PS3 is getting more expensive even before the release date, where-the-heck is Nintendo?

A friend of mine has the GCube and he is happy about it. Games, although few are very good, especially the Zelda series. I also own an XBox unit and so far I am happy with it, although because of work, can't really play that much. I had a friend copy emulated ps1 and SNes games for us to enjoy. Actually right now, my cousins are playing with the XBox. It really depends on one's taste but of course, the PS2 has more good games pa rin. Maybe after I settle down my fiancee would allow me to buy a PS3 unit, he he he! ;D

Me? I got an Xbox for the DOA series. But due to funding issues (waiting for the XB360 to fall to at least P20,000) am content at purchasing the soft ware first ( DOA4 and RRXXX). And by the looks of DOAXV2 (yummy), am getting this next.
Am even considering purchasing the Gamecube for the Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess. Stupid Nintendo, if they only released this gem in the onset of the GC's release, it would have given MS a run for its money, heck, the Zelda (cel shaded version) was too kiddie for my taste.
Without bragging or insulting the big N, Nintendo really makes Quality games, d@mn the delays but in an economical stand point, they sucked big time. Case in point, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a truly magnificent game that was released on the N64's last cycle, the only reason then to own a N64..........made me buy one just to experience Zelda.
