Slightly OT but...

Finally!! A second chance to own figures of the Gurren Lagann cast!

Coming May -June 2010 for 6500 Yen, I think the look of Simon is based off the movie version.


The old Konami figures are almost impossible to find now, I prefer the young Yoko from that set but at least we get "teacher Yoko" here.

BTW In case folks haven't heard, the Gurren Lagann second movie DVD was already released last Jan in Japan, and now the Torrent with English Subtitles is up.

The Movies are actually compiled versions of the series story arcs. Movie 1 covers the origin up to the Final battle with Adiane, Viral and Guame. Movie 2 spans from Lord Genome Battle up to the end battle with Anti Spirals.


Each movie has added 20 minutes of footage at the end.


The first movie's final 20 minutes now has Yoko fighting Adiane one on one, plus a different take on how the Gurren Lagann got it's wings, Simon's "Breakthough" moment, and the final battle has Dai Gurren fighting a new combined mech called Dai-Gun Koten Daizan.


In the second movie the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann actually gets busted up in the final battle and instead we're treated to a 20 minute battle of each of the "new" Gurrens piloted by the Gurren Brigade against the Anti-spiral, culminatiing in the final battle with the brand new "Chou Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann". The battle is pretty darn intense, more than how it went down in the series with just the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.




(Spoiler!) Sadly, the ending is just the same. Sigh. I was really hoping for an alternate "happy ending" for Simon.
