PS3 80 Gig question

Hi guys. I'm thinking about getting a PS3 80gig. I've heard that they're releasing a newer version without the Emotion Engine so it isn't Ps2 backwards compatible anymore, is this true? If so, how do you check which is which? I prefer to get the one that's backwards compatible since I do have a couple of original PS2 games.


Also, are there any advantages to getting an 80 rather than a 40 gig PS3 aside from the larger disk space?

Bad new Gold, the last backward compatible PS3 80 gog version is the Metal Gear Guns of the Patriots package.
