during my stay in HK(end of sept 2008) the price of daimos is 950-1100 hkd(5700-6600 php), voltes is 1300hkd(7800php) and combattler V is 700hkd (4200 php). Shinn is right, the price of soc is cheaper in hk. You only need to know where to find the cheapest. I think wan chai has one of the cheapest SOC Daimos available. I even heard there is a store selling Daimos for 780 hkd.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions on where to buy.
My sister is going to HK in mid Nov so I was planning to give her money to buy Daimos there. But it's my sister's first time in HK so she does not know the areas where to buy it.
Any specific areas where she might find a good priced one?
@gundam_G05 Sir, in what stores did you see these prices?
Thanks!

Generally, my personal rule of thumb for getting is if it isn't more than 1000 PhP difference, just get it locally. The hassle of lugging it home and sacrificing precious luggage space isn't worth it. Well for the HK toy hunting list here's a guide over at Afhub made by yours truly and several additional contributed info from other board members there. www.afhub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=166I recommend reading the whole thread, but print out the first post and have it with you when you go to HK (remember to grab a map of HK at the Airport, the guide will be useless without the map. If you missed out on the map at the Airport, the Hotel Concierge should also have them but just get it at the airport to be safe). Also, don't expect to find vintage toys now there. Most HK sellers have shoved them all off to Ebay and they're long gone. If you're in a rush (say, just have 1 day to shop) just go to CTMA, plenty of shops there. If you're trying to backtrack some older SOCs, then go to Wanchai and head straight for the Dong Fong 188 (look it up in the guide). Find the "Mazinger" store on the second floor. Most importantly, pack at least 5-7 Meters of Bubble wrap, bring masking tape and scissors(!!). You will definitely want to wrap your hauls to prevent dented boxes. When wrapping, remember, the bubble sides are on the inside (meaning, when you're done the smooth side is on the outside). If you're really, really meticulous about boxes, open them up and pack the spaces inside with tissue (use the hotel toilet paper, it's free ), this will prevent "angpaos" inside the box. I had a bad experience with the CMs Patlabor Griffon, I bubble wrapped it but there was a huuuuge empty space in the box where the tray is located. The box still got crushed in the luggage due to the empty space getting shoved in with no resistance on the inside. Tsk. Lesson learned. Gold

I will fly to Philippines before the end of Nov, and I have a 2 hour stop at the Hong Kong Airport. Do they sell toys around? So that i won't waste all my time looking for the stores. I know, it'll be a bit expensive, but just want to see. Thanks!

@vic: Yes they do but i don't recommend it. They sell toys at a very high price. You can window shop but for sure you cant buy anything.

Not exactly, there's a TRU store on the first platform. But you will need to exit immigration to get to it. It has a few nice items (Macross, TFs, Star Wars) but they're priced the same as Manila (consigned items?) Plus there's a Mattel Booth also near there (again, you have to exit Immigration). If you don't plan to exit thru immigration there are a few toystores on the second platform but they just sell Legos and other non-collectible items for tots. Gold

Thanks guys! I think i can exit the immigration and will try to look around the shops inside the airport. I will buy most of the collection from GT anyways, hehe!
