I'm planning to donate lots of toys to some orphanages this coming Christmas. Does anyone in Greattoys.net board have any connections to any orphanage? Or do we just drop by and leave a box?
any suggestions or comments? thanks

we could try just leaving a box. there's an orphanage right in front of ateneo law school along rockwell drive in makati. Bahay ni Maria, in Bel-Air subdivision.
in the san juan area, white cross orphanage is in pinaglabanan along santolan near the san juan fire station and post office.
will help in any way i can.

My gf's mom was formerly a volunteer at Missionaries of Charity. She says she'll try to get in contact with them.

I have an Orphanage!!! ;D (joke) Well kidding aside, i think we should give it to the kids in person. It'll make us feel better than just putting it in a box, dropping it in the orphanage's gate hoping that everyone will be happy I know it's a lot of hassle becuase i have been doing some community service for the past 2 terms but... You can never pay the feeling that we'll get seeing those "smiles" in the kids' faces Aside from that, we'll get to see that everything will be distributed fairly to everyone PM me if you need help and if my time sked will permit it... ill be there

That's really a kind gesture, Malvin. With the economic crunch that our country is experiencing, the number of street children are ever increasing... giving them toys will be one of the best things we can do this holiday... i also think we should give it to the children personally... aside from giving toys, it is best to spend some quality time with them.... ... and at the end of the day, you will not regret giving them what they truly need ... LOVE I'm with you on this project, Malvin...

doesn't jollibee have that ma-agang pasko thing? where you leave the toys in a box in a jollibee branch? pwde rin siguro doon... but i think it would be better if you go straight to an orphanage. i've also heard of that orphanage in rockwell. i've always planned on throwing a bday party in an orphanage para matuwa rin mga kiddies sa bday ko

Aside from this, could we spare some toys for the "street children" that we'll meet along the way? As we all know... They are quite more unfortunate than those in the orphanage.

Sir Malvin: Sa UP Diliman ILIS Student Council, may project na SAGWAF or Share a Gift Win a Friend, every year, pumupunta sa iba't-ibang orphanage to donate used/new toys. If you're interested I can give you the Chairperson's contact number to provide the details.

Just a suggestion guys, if the said orphanage is already supported by an organization, why not look for an orphanage that isn't? It's because that orphanage will get support no matter what, I'm pretty sure that the organization will already have a set budget for the support. This way, another orphanage will get the toys.
Just my two cents. ;D
Malvs, are you open that we make donations in order to increase the gift budget? ;D

I talked to my mom (she used to volunteer at Missionaries of Charity), and she said that more than toys, most orphanages would better appreciate food, clothing, and funds. The toys would be good, but we can do more, right? We don't have to, but if we're going to help, why don't we go all out? ;D Rather than just going to an orphanage and dumping the toy box at their doorstep, why not get in touch first and plan how we're going to go about this event? I mean, if we just (pardon the term) barge in unexpectedly, we might arrive at an inopportune time for them (like laundry day or something). We could get in touch with the orphanage directly, or contact an organization for outreach programs (most schools have orgs like that, and we can get contacts from them). I could handle the calls/ initial visits myself, but if it's alright, I'd like to hear the go-ahead from Sir Malvin first. And also, what do you guys really plan? A simple visit, or do you want events like a party, or games, or ? ? ? (in other words, what am I going to tell them?) UchihaItachi: I'm in UPDiliman, and I can visit SAGWAF one of these days (hey I think I can go as early as this week ). Who's the contact person?
