ZOIDS PHILIPPINES CUSTOM CONTEST

Alright boys and girls, it is my privilege to welcome you to our very first Zoids Philippines custom contest
The contest period starts today 16 March 2006 and all entries must be in by 22 April 2006. We will announce the exact venue of the contest within the next weeks, just note the date for now and check for announcements.
THE THEME: Desert wind-up.
PARTICIPANTS: As one of the purposes of this contest is to expand our membership, any registered member of the Forum as of 21 April 2006, (the day before the contest) MAY ENTER. This means EVERYONE, even Mods, etc. can join.
So here are THE RULES:
1. THE CUSTOM: Your custom must be based on a wind-up Zoid.
This means, regardless of the end result, the Zoid initially customized must have been a wind-up when it was taken out of the box. I hope this answers the questions of whether we can customize a battery powered zoid and make it a wind up. This is because we want to encourage everyone to join the contest as wind-ups are generally cheaper than powered zoids. Further, some of us may not (YET) have the heart to cut up a prized member of their collection. Also, it will entail lesser shipping cost as it will be explained later.
2. PAINTED: The custom MUST be fully painted in accordance with the theme.
3. NEW CUSTOM: In the interest of fairness to everybody, contestants must build a new custom specifically for the contest. Using a custom you've already made will not be allowed.
4. NO. OF ENTRIES: Everyone is allowed to submit a maximum of three customs, but is only allowed to win in the TOP THREE Category ONCE. This means if for example 2 of your customs win say 2nd and 3rd place, you are awarded the higher of the two, which is 2nd place. Third place will go to the next higher in score.

There shall be three independent judges (NOT CONTESTANTS) who shall be present on the day itself.
5. PHYSICAL PRESENCE
As the entries shall be judged, the CUSTOM (not necessarily the creator) must be present on the day of judging. As stated above, the exact venue shall be announced within the next few weeks. (Sorry guys, we’re still working on it.) Thus, for those who can’t physically be present, and still wish to join, you may mail (or LBC, DHL, etc…) your finished custom to a member who you trust to bring it and display it for you on the contest date. Since it’s a wind up, it won’t cost too much to send. I suggest that you carefully wrap it in bubble wrap and give your friend instructions on how to pose, make quick repairs, etc.
6. NO PREVIEWS. In the spirit of fair play, no one may preview any pictures of their custom (finished or unfinished) on this forum or any other website prior the actual contest date.
PRIZES
MAJOR PRIZES: As this is our first in-house contest, we wanted to start with a bang, aside from bragging rights, our first prize winner will get a built LIMITED CLEAR BUSTER EAGLE courtesy of Bankee, the second and third prizes will likewise be impressive.
SPECIAL AWARDS
There will also be special prizes for special awards. While we shall announce if there will be more, for now, there are special awards for best in paint and best build.
RAFFLE:
There shall also be a raffle for all participants (whether or not they are physically present), and members (who may not be participants) who are present on contest date. I hope that explanation was clear… Anyway, we’ll be raffling assorted limited clear parts.
** MEMBERS’ CHOICE
Aside from the top three Zoids, that will be adjudged on the contest date itself, there shall be a special award for Members’ Choice or People’s Choice. This shall be our first online community contest as well. All the rules above, except for physical presence on contest date, apply.
We will thus VOTE for the winner of this category. Each member shall be allowed to vote ONCE for their favorite Zoid. Voting for one’s own entry is allowed but be warned that you’ll probably be flamed by the other members.
Mechanics: This special contest will start at 12:01 a.m. of 23 April 2006 or the DAY AFTER the actual contest, and will end on 12 midnight of 29 April 2006.
Pictures: Everyone must submit 2 pictures which must be 640 x 480 pixels, which MUST already be hosted. This means, you only send the IMG link ok. The pics must be in by midnight of 22 April 2006. Links are to be submitted via P.M. in the forum to Kamadoma. Composite pictures are allowed. And yes, AFTER kamadoma posts all your entries in the Member's Choice contest thread, you may post your own.
Participating customs MAY or MAY NOT have been entries during the actual judging. So for those who joined and didn’t win, you have another chance. For those who wished to join but couldn’t send their Zoids for one reason or another. (e.g. member abroad), you can still participate by sending your pics.
We will be announcing the exact voting mechanics in the next few weeks, as well as the prize/prizes.
Further, kindly note that should there be any changes, especially on any of the important dates, we shall be posting them in THIS thread.
