Official ad for TF Prime...
Based on recent news, the series will be the basis if Hasbro will come out with the toys or not... that sucks specially when Takara-Tomy continues the toy lines and they get expensive locally...
I believe this is where Cliffjumper is not in any way identical to Bumblebee really... I think he's bigger and bulkier...

5 episode primer marathon is finished in the US and will resume on February, that's a long wait for a hiatus... anyway, they'll probably weigh in if toys can become available based on viewer response...
I'm on the wagon and I hope they continue this series...

i only like cg animations but if in level with Galaxy Force but this one im not sure, specially that prime with human mouth... augh Human Mouth? Like the Galaxy Force/Cybertron Optimus (and almost half of the bots in that series) doesn't have full lips? As much as I like Galaxy Force, I don't particularly like the CG animation because of the movement limitations they applied which are only acceptable in anime but dreadful in CG. The series is getting good reviews but will definitely need to up the ante to get the rest of the TF fanbase. I say take it as it is, we don't have be critical in every iteration of the series as a whole, in the end it's better than nothing. I could have posted this last week but I keep forgetting to copy it to my flash drive.... so here's a sort of review on the 5 episode primer... Transformers Prime
Just when you thought Hasbro is going to shell out something halfbaked, think again.
Here comes Transformers Prime...
First off the original idea from G1 about the war over energon is back unlike other iterations on this franchise, the bots start off with few characters which obviously will evolve to a few numbers later, some ideas from Transformers Animated other than Bulkhead and a lot of stuff taken from the movie franchise.
"The first rule of robot fight club is you don't talk about the robot fight club." Yeah that's a little cheesy, but admit it, you did find that funny as well. So far the humans are not as obtrusive as those in other Transformers franchise but then again this is just a primer, and their existence is already made necessary because of the idea that their knowledge of the Autobots is considered an alliance by Decepticons, well that's how Optimus puts it. Personally, I hope they do something about Miko... LOL
What's good about it? First off, the whole feel of the series is different from other Transformers tv series; it's more like watching a movie cut in 21 minute increments per week. The combination of ideas from Transformers Animated and the movies make a lot of difference. They have expressive faces under the masks while their robot and alt modes are closely resembling the movie versions. Just like in the movie, Dark Energon has a very bad side effect to anything metal or similar items which will probably become the backdrop for the whole series conflict.
You can iterate that this new series follows on the end of the first movie based on the scene where Optimus states their purpose on Earth in the name of their comrades and Cybertron over a cliff. But combines the best ideas from the tv franchise and game not available in the movie. This time however the idea of Unicron exist, the one thing the movie franchise don't want to touch (for obvious reasons). For some odd reasons they killed Cliffjumper so soon that he didn't even make the 5 minute mark, Jazz got the boot before the first movie ended.
The quality is top notch, a far cry from Transformers Cybertron, just for the fact that the characters are animated with a bigger budget. None are the scenes where the characters freezes or looking like statues in the background. Remember the Transformers Beast Wars/Machines years? Those were award winning CG animations. The texture in this new series is better in a way that when the characters are in the background they tend to have a mosaic feel insteadof getting blurred, otherwise it was the compression of the copies I got.
Their transformation sound is different from where you can barely recognize the original to reinventing the same sound to be specific to the size of the bot, you be the judge. You think, the movie have enough challenges for the toy makers? Think again. They may look similar to their movie counterparts but they sure have tough transformations just as well, so you may also wonder how their toys will come out.
Probably taking cue from all those Sentai hero series, the Decepticons now have drones to do the mining and fighting which was not seen in most Transformers series other than the Sharticons in the Animated movie and in Transformers Energon (if there are others, you may probably know more about them than I do). This however solidifies the idea that the Decepticons have gained more power over Cybertron than the Autobots and they are a lot more sinister than in previous series, not to mention that Megatron looks like his Animated counterpart only this time he's really creepy.
The whole primer points out that Cybertron has succumbed to the ravage of war and most inhabitants have fled to the far regions of the universe. How this series will continue on February is a big question... I just hope it doesn't become as episodic as G1.
It's getting great reviews so here's to hoping it lasts long...
