Who has tried ordering from this site? I would like information on whether they ship directly to your address if you choose EMS shipping and if it's not too heavy on the pocket/credit card. ** mods/admin, if this is inappropriate, go ahead and delete this thread.

Dude, when you ship via EMS, it will go through the Bureau of Curakots... este Customs. The only door-to-door service I know of is via FedEx, UPS etc. The Phil Post Office will send you a claim card that will inform you na it is the 2nd notice and you have to claim it in 30 days. When you call them, you would be directed to the B.O.C. Then, then... that's it. It's not too heavy on the pocket and it depends on the charges they will ask for shipping. Hope this helps.

I've ordered online through other stores. It always depends on the price of the item/s and the shipping cost (usually between $20-$40) I think. Just bear in mind that the EMS service will still go through the Phil Post Office and if the items are boxed or big, it passess through the Bureau of Customs. Good luck!

if its still possible, i'd strongly suggest you get them directly via gt instead.
i've been ordering various mags like hobbyjapan and dengeki hobby thru hlj.com, and although the prices are cheap...
you're still gonna get financially slaughtered by the shipping cost.
although priced at 300+,hobbyjapan and dengeki hobby mags are heavier (around 990 grams average) in which, will cost you around 600-700+ for the shipping. if i recall prices of mags at gt is around 850 only, which is considerably cheaper.
then, theres also the customs issue as matttracker mentioned...

i think it depends on the post office and the package you're gonna order..... my MG EZ-8 Gundam and HARO were both shipped thru EMS method.... and they delivered it to my stated mailing address.. no need to go to the post office......... i think SAL and AIR shipping are the one involves going to the post office to claim your stuff... well thats based on my own experience from ordering thru HLJ and Rainbowten..........

I'm not sure but you might wanna ask gaoJP about FEDEX and UPS. I know he was taxed at customs when he had something shipped via FEDEX.

I'm not sure but you might wanna ask gaoJP about FEDEX and UPS. I know he was taxed at customs when he had something shipped via FEDEX. To my knowledge, DHL, Fedex and UPS shipments have to be cleared through customs too! Even if these are door-to-door services, the courier may arrive at your house and slap you with a bill for customs duties. Its happened to me. Also to clarify re: EMS, yes, it goes through customs too. Sometimes customs will charge, sometimes they won't. For example, a month or so ago, I ordered some star trek shogukans from Japan and when the delivery got to my house, I was charged all of 5 pesos! In short, when it comes to customs and duties issues, there really is no predictability whatsoever. That's been my experience anyway.... Ultimately, going back to your basic question, if the items you want to order online are available locally or can at least be sourced locally, I'd suggest getting it here. After all, you will, as previously said, have to factor in unit cost, shipping cost, possible customs and duties taxes and credit card interest charges (assuming you revolve on your credit). All in all, you most likely won't come out ahead. However, if the item/s in question aren't available or are exhorbitantly priced locally, then I say go for for the online purchase but just be prepared to pay a premium. Hope this helps. Garvy

i totally agree. ordering online will seem cheaper. actually it is really cheap. cheaper than any local stores. but when ur package reach our soil, tagaxed happen. believe me, i know. im 1-1 with those people. my first order i did not pay anything. my second, well, dont ask.
xentar, i sent u the receipts. if u have a scanner, pls post the receipts. the public has the rights to know.
as a conclusion, although ordering online is cheap, u'll probably end up paying more. as for EMS method, if ur doing that to educate urself or for experience, then by all means try it. but if ur doing that, coz u think it is cheap and safe from tagaxed, then dont do it man. dont!
hope ths helps.

I've ordered from HLJ 3 times. I've always used the SAL option and I didn't have any problems from the QC Post Office, I just told them that it's just toys for my personal collection and I only gave them P100 as a tip.
What do you plan on ordering? As the others mentioned, if it's just a common item, it's better to buy it locally. For an idea if the price here is "overpriced", just refer to HLJ's price, add the shipping costs and add another P100-200 pesos, that should give you an accurate estimate on how much the item should cost here.
I wouldn't suggest using FedEx as a method if you find a shop offering that shipment. FedEx simply pays the full custom duties by themselves then charge it to you once they delivered the item to your house. By this, you'll sometimes see a very expensive charge once they deliver the product to your house and you can't do anything about it since it was already paid in advance.
So if you plan to order online, here's what I suggest you do: 1. Check all the stores you know for the item you want. 2. If the product is not available here, go ahead and order. 3. If possible, order in bulk. List down all you want and order them together. 4. Order from popular online stores.
I don't know what the status of Cebu's postal system so as a testing procedure, try ordering 1 item first.
