Hehe got mine a week ago, thought I'd share a little rundown of the toy for those deciding to get it or not.. Sorry I couldn't do a full review, I'm needed at work so I'm currently out of town and won't be home till mid-December.
Diecast parts include:
-joints(hydraulics) in the chest(chestplate is plastic though)
-red painted parts of the chest
-shoulder joints
-the biceps
-some of the internal parts of the forearms
-thighs
-those round things on the sides of GB's legs
-some of the internal parts of the lower legs
-ankles
-waist
-feet(both transforming and non-transforming "swappable" feet have diecast)
-the "interlink shaft" of the 2 Tomahawks.
A lot of moving pieces, just be careful to note where the "release buttons" are. There are two release buttons per leg(to shaft out the lower leg) hidden underneath the "Buster Toreda" plates(top and bottom sides). and also a button to release the foot for swapping with the more "Anime accurate" foot(the button is located in the heel area).
There's also a button for releasing the waist interlock(the gimmick is almost similar to Getter Poseidon's release button). The interlock seems solid enough but I haven't tried lifting the toy by just holding onto the chest.
While it looks really good, I can't help but feel that there're a lot of parts that are accidents just waiting to happen.
Things to watchout for :
1) The "C-shaped" clips for attaching the buster machine 1's tailwings, I dunno, but it feels like it might break if you remove and attach them too often(you need to take em off to return the ship into the box)
2) The plastic spikes on GB's shoulders(the little ones that are pointing down)
3) The big flap on Buster Machine 2. You can remove it for anime accuracy but there is a certain angle to do it(study the illustration VERY CAREFULLY), remove it the wrong way or at the wrong angle and something might break.
4) I'm not sure if this is localized to my unit but somehow the mid torso joint feels a little loose(there's a hidden joint of sorts in the chest interlock, helps angle the chest to "lean" forward to do the "Super Inazuma Kick" pose).
Some photos(note: to do the "arms folded pose" you have to remove some of the pieces of both forearms to get it to fit right)
These were the only photos I could do in the time that I had in Manila.
Also fooled around with the poseability. The toy has ratchet joints in the thighs(on both Axis, forward-back and sideways) and in the knees and even in the rotating lower legs. Ratchet joints in the shoulders but not in the elbows I think.
Definitely a great SOC, I'm not really sure if there're any QC problems in the paint apps(since it's mostly black) and I've yet to try the gimmicks, but design-wise I think I might vote this as the TOTY instead of Voltes. I like the concept of the stand being "functional" as opposed to just being something the toy can stand on(the base has plugs that can support the toy when it's in "Super Inazuma Kick"/flying kick pose).
I'll try to add more when I can.
