Hi! This is a review of Cybertron Unicron.
Alt Mode/Tank Mode:
It's hard at first glance what to make of Unicron's alt mode... from a far it looks like a monster of some sort but a carefull look it is indeed some sort of a monster tank and with huge claws as homage to Unicron being a planet eater, however now at this size I don't know what can he devour but who knows?
The figure's side panels were secured by two transparent rubber bands -- signs of some problem? We'll... Yes but lets get to the good things first. The cannon and sub-machine gun? looks nasty and the canon is spring loaded so it fires. The threads were just there for designs and has nothing to do with the vehicles movement. The two big tires behind plus some little ones are responsible for the figures movement. There are some sort of claws on both sides that's makes you wonder if this thing can crawl like a bug or what.
Robot Mode:
The robot mode is fine and really menacing with that skull look (looks like Unicron's face had been a victim of some acid throwing TF). Articulation looks good but suprisingly limited since some parts obstruct poseability like the horns bent over under his arms and the sort of tentacles/shredders on both his legs so it's best to have Unicron crab 'em ala claws of death.
The problem lies on the huge tires located on his back on the shoulder level since it makes the figure difficult to balance. There was hip movement but the hip ball joints on my Unicron are very loose. By the way, transformation is quite simple but pretty confusing if you follow the included instructions. My figure includes the Jungle Planet map.
The figure if you noticed resembles Sideways mold (probably the best deLuxe Cybertron figure) however, Sideways joints were secured and tight making posibility top notch.
Side by side with Sideways
His shoulder panels resembles Megatron/Galvatron too!
Gimmicks/Cybertron Key
Unicron's cybertron key is mostly orange and silver nothing fancy. Insert it in his back (both Alt & robot mode) and the triple cannon pops open -- not too fancy but works anyway.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
This figure is still a must have besides some of it's "flaws". Unicon's affiliation now is a Decepticon and his package contains four Planet symbols --- I don't know why since I don't flow the series anyway (Cybertron/GF). If you have the money and lucky enough to see it on some toy store's counters... I suggest you go and pick it up. That's it! Hope this helps. Thanks!
