Mazinger Z plus Weapons Set Super Robot ChogokinMazinger Z is a gigantic Super Robot, constructed with a fictitious metal called Super-Alloy Z (超合金Z Chōgokin Zetto?), which is forged from a new element (Japanium) mined from a reservoir found only in the sediment of Japan's Mt. Fuji. The mecha was built by Professor Juzo Kabuto as a secret weapon against the forces of evil, represented in the series by the Mechanical Beasts (mecha used for evil purposes) of Dr. Hell. To counter this, Kabuto constructs Mazinger Z and manages to finish it just before being killed by a bomb planted by Hell’s right-hand 'man', Baron Ashura, a half-man, half-woman being. As he is dying, he manages to inform his grandson Kouji Kabuto about the robot and its use. Kouji becomes the robot’s pilot, and from that point on battles both the continuous mechanical monsters, and the sinister henchmen sent by Doctor Hell in every episode. - from Wiki My two cents: Awesome figure and sculpt. The diecast content is a big plus in my book. My only complaint is that the shoulder, waist and right balljoint that attaches the leg to the crotch were loose OOTB. I like figures with tight joints. Otherwise, this figure is loads of fun. Add the weapons pack and the possibilities just skyrocket. If you're looking for an affordable Mazinger Z, SRC is the way to go. ;D

SHF Weather Dopant Tamashii Web Exclusive Yosh! It's been awhile since my last review. Been busy during the past few months so I haven't really had the time to take photos and stuff.
Anyway, here's my first review for 2011 and it's a doozy: my very first Kaijin. As you may or may not know, a Kaijin is, in Japanese tokusatsu, a humanoid monster. Today, we'll be looking at the SHF Weather Dopant from Kamen Rider W:
Character Bio Shinkuro Isaka (井坂 深紅郎 Isaka Shinkurō?) is the head physician at the Isaka Medical Clinic (井坂内科医院 Isaka Naika Iin?). Ten years ago, finding no meaning in his life, he encountered Ryubee Sonozaki attacking a group of people as the Terror Dopant. This made Isaka seek to get the Terror Memory for himself, experimenting on himself with several Gaia Memories with various Living Connectors on his body before Shroud gave him the Weather Memory in the hope that he would be powerful enough to eliminate Ryubee. As the Weather Dopant (ウェザー・ドーパント Wezā Dōpanto?), he is armed with the whip-like Weather Mine (ウェザーマイン Wezā Main?) and control over the elements: intense sunlight, heavy rain, lightning, tornadoes, and freezing snow. He originally tested these abilities in a series of murders which include Ryu Terui's family, to whom he is only known as the man with the W Memory (W(ダブリュー)のメモリを持つ男 Daburyū no Memori o motsu otoko?).
-From Wikipedia Bandai has really outdone itself in the making and sculpting of the Weather Dopant. It is sculpted accurately based on his TV appearance. The intricacies of his costume from the dragon design on his belt and on his shoulders to the little lines and symbols surrounding his body are sculpted quite well. The blue orb were the two dragon heads meet is definitely eyecatching and the headsculpt is just both menacing and cool all at once.
The paint job is topnotch on this figure in spite of some small splashes of gold paint on the right skirt. No biggie though. Application on the gold, silver and black parts are almost seamless. My only complaint would be that the figure would've probably benefited to a more matte finish than a semi-gloss one since it makes the plastic stand out more. Posability on Weather is a bit hindered. The elbows can't go up all the way through raising only at around 90 degrees from the shoulder. Also, the figure cannot raise the arms sideward up the shoulder-level. These are because of the various armor designs surrounding the figure that hinder the movement. The back skirt is also a solid piece of plastic so kneeling poses are out of the question.
What I do like the most out of this figure is that it just looks so darn good from any angle. It can flat out do a pose from John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever and still look cool.
Accessories are limited to the set of hands it has: 2 closed fists, 2 grip hands, 2 partially open hands and 2 pointed hands plus 2 versions of his Weather Mine: one that he can hold on his hand and the other that attaches to the back part of his belt. Partnering him up against his arch-rival: Kamen Rider Accel makes for some really good fight scenes! Conclusion: For my very first Kaijin, Weather Dopant is really worth it. The awesome sculpt, bad-ass equals cool factor and the fact that this was one of the biggest antagonists in the series makes this figure a great addition to my KR W collection. Whilst posability is a bit lackluster, the Weather Dopant wasn't really the most agile of fighters to begin with anyway and you just gotta love the fact that he looks cool in just about any pose.
Thanks for looking! ;D

SH Figurarts Kamen Rider Accel Trial Tamashii Web Exclusive Character Bio: Kamen Rider Accel Trial (仮面ライダーアクセルトライアル) is the powered up form of Kamen Rider Accel. It is much faster than Accel's normal form, but its armor and overall power is weaker as a result. It makes up for its weakness by being able to punch and kick much faster, as well as increasing his overall movement speed (running, dodging, etc.) to a great degree. Once the Maximum Drive is initiated, Accel Trial can only be used for another 10 seconds before being forcibly reverted to human form, but the transformation is retained if the Trial Maximum Drive is successfully executed in under 10 seconds. This form's Maximum Drive is the Machine Gun Spike (マシンガンスパイク ) Rider Kick, a series of multiple kicks in a row which leave a series of energy treadmarks in the form of a T. The power of this Maximum Drive is only limited by how many kicks Accel Trial can perform within the 10 second time limit. When Accel Trial combines the Engine Maximum Drive with the Trial Maximum Drive, he can perform the Machine Gun Slasher (マシンガンスラッシャー Mashingan Surasshā?) Maximum Drive, repeatedly slashing the target in the time limit rather than kicking. Accel Trial's motif also includes the motocross off-road bike. -From Wiki Kicking off my second review with Kamen Rider Accel Trial! Right off the bat, I really love this figure. It has an awesome shade of blue and the sculpt looks much, much better than that of the original Accel. My only gripe is that the head is not 100% accurate to the show as it's a bit flatter and wider than it should be. Paint isn't too shabby although I did see a few splotches on the thigh and chest area. Nothing too noticeable and considering how hard it was just to get this figure, I don't mind a small mishap on the paint. I especially like the way the eyes were made for this figure. Very accentuated and detailed as you can see the gear-like shapes from the orange-translucent eyes of the figure. Accel Trial comes with the following accessories: 2 closed fists, 2 open hands, 2 grip hands, a thumbs up/down hand and 2 grip hands for the Engine Blade, 2 belts: one regular and one with the Trial Memory, the Engine Blade and a separate Trial Memory that he can hold in his hand. Posability is as you expect from the SH Figurarts line which is superb as usual. The figure can do practically everything that his real-life counterpart can except speed up while play. Trial! Machine Gun Spike! Trial Maximum Drive! 9.8 seconds...that is the time until you despair! Conclusion Whilst it is another Exclusive and the figure is quite rare, this was an instant hit with SHF fans and it's no wonder as it's quite an eye-catching figure with lots of posability and accessories. It captures the look and feel of its real-life counterpart and I love how good it looks simply standing there on my shelf. Definitely a must-have for KR and KR W fans alike. Thanks for looking! ;D
