hey folks,
i was wondering, could we have some limits on the graphics in people's signatures? i use dial-up most of the time, and it really gums up the screen downloads, specially if the posts themselves have lots of pictures in them.
as it is, i end up having to tell the browser not to load the graphics & animations, which makes it a big hassle if there are posts with lots of interesting photos.

If I may give a suggestion:
If you're using a Firefox browser you have lots of options, let me know if this is your browser.
If you're using IE, your option is very limited. Go to your profile on the board, Modify profile, then scroll down to Account Preferences. You can then set Show signatures and/or avatar to No, but keep Show Images to Yes so you'll still see posted pics.

Hi Jay, We've set up rules regarding picture sizes and signatures. However, we don't have control over the members' profiles if they choose to make their sigs large. What we can do is to disable the signature option in the boards so that the pictures in the sigs won't show at all. This does not affect the pictures in the posts. Thanks.  |

I agree with jaybats. Not all of the members in this forum are in DSL.
Actually MODS and ADMINS can enforce rules on signiture's file size limits and dimensions.
It doesnt have to be set in the proboard's configuration but should be set in the minds of the members that are exceeding the proposed limits. Its just a matter of following and implementing the rules.

well as what protoform-s has said, members on dial up can turn off the avatars and signatures on their profile settings. that is my current setting. and it helps... now if only all pics on posts can be in thumbnail mode then the surfing experience can really be faster.

Whats the supposed limits for the image signatures?
better yet, for dial-up users just disable sigantures on your profile so it wont take a few mins of your time to load the page.

well i prefer to use the 468x80 size or the 468x60 size on all of the sigs its much faster to load .... |
