There have been rumors circulating online, Bruce Wayne will no longer be Batman. Instead he will be elevated to New God and take on Darkseid in the Final Crisis. Worse... Jason Todd will now be taking up the Mantle of the BAT!!! www.comicbookresources.com/columns/index.cgi?column=litg&article=2919www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13The original idea was that all of DC's main characters were to be killed off in the Final Crisis and the Sidekicks take over the main roles. This was later shelved by DC and instead only Batman will be replaced. www.comicbookresources.com/columns/index.cgi?column=litg&article=2923The new Batman costume will be designed by Alex Ross (who also designed the new Captain America costume). Hmm.. Capt dies, comes back (rumors point to Bucky as the new Capt), his costume gets redesigned by Alex Ross. Bruce Wayne goes away, one of his former sidekicks takes up the mantle and the costume is also redesigned by Alex Ross... who's copying whom here? Gold

i dont buy this one bit. this had the same rumor with Infinite Crisis. i think the replacement of the Bats will show in the current Ra's Al Resurrection. If you check the solicitaion for FEB, theyre gonna show the 3rd batman running around Gotham.

hmmm... taken from wikipedia... In the "DC NATION" column that appeared on the last page of Supergirl #19 (and with other DC comics released around that same time), Didio broke down the picture's symbolism: "Anyone standing on barren ground is doomed. In this case, it spells the Death of the New Gods...The yellow Ring corrupts Kyle (Rayner) in The Sinestro Corps War... Jason Todd becomes Red Robin, driving a wedge in the Challengers from Beyond...Green Arrow struggles to win the love of Black Canary... Batman, in symbolic garb, wields the sword that hearkens the return of a deadly foe (Ra's Al Ghul)...Dressed in Barry's cotume, Bart (Allen, the Flash) showed that he had one foot in the grave...A Legionnaire is lost and marked for death in Countdown...The Atom, lost, struggles to survive...The shield marked Hippolyta's return...Superman and Wonder Woman discuss parent issues...Is that a Boom Tube I see, and can that be the path to salvation?...The shadow of evil falls over Mary Marvel...and the statue head, reminiscent of and tied to Kamandi #1, also reflects Sinestro's upcoming visit to the Big Apple." so, if this is true, we still don't know what will really happen to bruce...since they always give hints on what will happen in final crisis...

hmmm.... come to think about it, there's a possibility there'll be a big change in the bats family. here are my reasons. *first of all grant morrison is writing the batman book, and he has control over the Final Crisis storyline. grant's been known to 'reinvent' characters, it's his specialty. *the may solicitations for batman has the arc called 'Batman RIP'. *the first issue of JLA 'meltzer/benes run', had a glimpse of the future where supes and diana were talking about bruce 'going down with a fight.' *im a devout follower of Nightwing and he currently got a new base of operations, new look on life, new direction, etc. his book is about to reach #150 so there's a possibility for that landmark issue to be a........LANDMARK issue! something special will happen i may be babbling but what do you guys think? i think there is a possibility of bruce wayne stepping down as bats.

I'm 50/50 sold in this issue. Why? The Dark Knight will be shown on May.. making it a great opportunity to generate the bat books' hype. This will be an opportunity for DC to spike their sales on the Bat titles. It may be true.. Grant Morrison has this knack for reinventing (as Pilapz mentioned) and drastically changing the landscape of the titles he wrote (JLA, New X-Men, Seven Soldiers, even Batman). This may also spike media attention and sales as Cap's death did. Hey, if Bruce does end up not being Bats anymore, it won't be a permanent thing. ;D They'll retcon it eventually. And Azrael?! DC learned their lesson after Knightsend. Hehe.

Just look at what they did to The Flash, Bart Allen dies and Wally West takes the mantle......again. I sense Cap/Steve Rogers will show up again, same with Phoenix/Jean Grey.

I sense Cap/Steve Rogers will show up again, same with Phoenix/Jean Grey. Captain America is returning in a way. He and his team, the Invaders, time travel from the 1940's to the present day. It's hinted that the baby the X-Men saved in Messiah Complex might be the reincarnation of Jean Grey. The baby has green eyes and red hair just like Jean.
