OK, I've always been curious which of the 1970s Super Robot Shows, particularly the ones broadcast on TV, are now available on CD/DVD, so that i know what to look for and what to budget. To date, AFAIK there's
Voltes V - on CDs, dubbed, RP, ~ P2,500
Daimos - on CDs, dubbed, RP ~ P2,500
Mazinger Z - on DVD, subbed, China ~ ?
What else is there?

I was talking about this to malvin about a month or two ago... I know he's got a Mekanda robo DVD. Was not able to get it yet because of my busy sked.
Sometime ago, I was able to stumble on a Danguard ace (pirated, incomplete, loose episodes, a lil blurred) vcd in Caloocan, sa mall beside grand central .... that one where the lrt exits(Northmall ata yun, lots of pirated vcd stores in there) . Medyo tsambahan kung ano meron.
As of the moment,yun lan alam ko.....
My other 70's super robot movies were on betamax tapes ( my brother and I taped it while we were watching sa tv way back in the 70s.) Problem is hindi ko na din siya mapanuod... No beta player na and I can see (sticky substances) molds na yata yun sa loob ng window ng tape.

There is a Getter Robo DVD set from HK. The subs are decent although the names are a bit funny.

Hey guys,
I got the Mekanda DVDs (2 discs) from Malvin. The picture quality is about the same as the Voltes V VCDs, but for me, it's okay. CLASSIC! ;D

CLASSIC! ;D SGP Yeah, I also got mine 2 weeks ago, I was able to watch 5 or 6 episodes..... this is the exact series that was shown on GMA 7 during the 70's complete with the dubbing ( although its showing was stopped by the super robot killer himself "MARCOS"  ) Now, I can enjoy watching the episodes that were not shown because it was cut short... and the best of it all..... I'll eventually find out the rest of the story up to the last episode ... " ang tagal kung naghintay at nagmunimuni kung ano ang nangyari sa robot na ito (more than 20 years), hehehe.... " ;D ;D After 2 decades, Narinig ko na naman ang boses nila especially that of the Narrator (sounds like Big Bert of Voltes V) and yes....that sound effect everytime a photon omega missile's launched when mekanda's activated, very nostalgic indeed!!!! This is a classic super robot tv series rejuvenated in a DVD disc. Very clear copy  |

... i think there's also combattler v vcds... english subbed...

Actually, it has no subtitle, it's in english dubbed..... it's a vcd copy transferred to a dvd. Ito yung mismong palabas sa tv dati just like the voltes v and daimos vcd copies that went out sa market.  Just like the mekanda series, the combattler dvds (4 discs) were vcd originals transferred to a dvd. |
