Its back fellas.............
I just got my copy today and here is the low down, I will avoid mentioning some general spoilers so here goes.
Title: Bible Black Resurrection
Publisher: Milky(JP), Kitty Media (US)
Story: Active(PC) Hamou (OVA)
Character design: Yoshi(ten)
Episodes: 2 at 30 minutes each
DVD Easter Eggs: :PScreen shots (a first for Kitty) but no more "inserts" in the dvd pack.
Synopsis:
Years after the events of the original Bible Black, the main characters are back.
Imari: ( the sacrifice) is a policewoman in the special investigation unit (CSI for the occult). Several murders have occured in the city related to (you know what ;D) wherein a lot of couples have been found gruesomely murdered). There is still more to her than meets the......especially between her legs( ;Dtrust me fellas)
Minase: (also a cop) the jerk in the original story.........still a jerk.(off?)
Shiraki: (the other victim class president now a teacher in the same academy)
Takashiro: (red head multiple victim who started it all) is now a Buddhist nun.
Saeki: another teacher, is back doing the witch coven schtick.
Kitami: (spoiler)
Story now deals with Saeki's attempt to restore the original Bible Black with the use of the "Spear" of Longinus. (FYI the weapon used by the Centurion Longinus in early pre Christian times, to check whether Christ was still alive after the crucifixion or the weapon used by Rei Ayanami/Asuka in killing 'em angels in Evangelion). The Bible Black was supposed to have been destroyed by Imari.................so the story still centers on her.
Another thing, it seems that a couple of criminals are now "adept" in witchcraft (not implied if they are Saeki's servants) and wouldn't hesitate to use witchcraft orgy on their victims(that's is all I can say without spoiling the story)
Review:
I became a fan of the series by accident. Thanks to some japanese pc related magazine, I noticed this ad on Bible Black. When Kitty released it, I completed the entire set.
Art is still top-notched thanks to Yoshi(ten). But the story IMHO is a little iffy. It seems like it is more of a fan-service based OVA 'cause in the game.........it already ended with resolution (albeit multiple ones).
I also noticed that it was more violent than the first. The first series had a multiple decapitation scene during the ceremony (flash back in gaiden). Here, you see a lot of violently murdered people. Funny thing is, was there a conscious effort to black out the splattered remains and organs of the victims? In other occult inspired hentai, blood and gore were liberally presented. I did notice several Urotsoki doji inspired scenes though (fans will know what I mean)
BAD NEWS for Purists: A weird (no pun intended) change in Kitty's usual translation.............the japanese voice track is not included. The ending credits the japanese crew in its entirety but.........no japanese voice tracks I am not sure if it was a rushed attempt of Kitty to beat the holiday rush.
English voice over is ............THANKFULLY better than the stilted overacting original series.
The changes may be a take getting used to, but hey.Bible Black. I am intrigued with the story, but still, it sort of looks like a rehash of the old.
