Thanks for voting Bluemech and Adbenturero! Sure you can vote for those 3. I really want to start this thread before as a voting poll but I find it hard since I am not well sure on what Mobile Suits to add as the "best" candidates for melee attacks. Since I think there are lots out there, I might not be able to add the other peeps "fave mobile suits" or the other way around. Right? So it is best that you name your vote instead when you post/reply to this thread. And of course, you can add a comment on why you vote that certain mobile suit(s). YAY! :-D Anyway, I'll just monitor this thread and the voting will stop after a month. Then we'll see which Mobile Suit scores the most and will be crowned as the "Master of Melee Attacks"! So for the others who had not casts their votes yet, you may vote now! Thanks.. Gundamers!

NICE!!! as for me like V2 said G gundam is way pass the real mecha barrier, thou I like the series to. as for my vote my penny goes to the W series particularly the 3 melee gundams: Nataku/Altron, Deathscythe/D-Hell and Sandrock. They manage to use a single melee weapon. The reason is unlike exia, althought he is pretty good on hand-to-hand combat, it has many weapons particullarly on many situations like if its extremly close range it use the dagger thingy it even throws them(it never manage to picks them up, what a waste), when it couldn't swing the main biggy weapon 'cause its too slow it uses the beam sabers like a back-up, and ofcousre the two GN blades can't think of a reason maybe like the beam sabers and lastly the main biggy blade "panindak" maybe MS pilots trembles with fear thats why they cant move their MS properly j/k As for my voted gundam like D-Hell far or close range he use a single beam scythe(well except on the beam drill dagger that it throws during the first season) on Nataku/Altron when its beam trident can't reach you "Here comes the hand!!!" and lastly I would say MY real master of melee would be Sandrock the main reason he uses those two shotel in any situation(one thing I don't like is he has too many "alipores" around him)

I think the proper way to describe Death Scythe Hell and Exia is they are a very good slashers they rely too much on beam sabers, swords, and daggers (darn too much watching Samurai X hehehe)

from the Ggundam i think the Spiegel would give the Exia a good bladed-slasher fight. ;D

Yup, I'll go for exia too. ;D
The mech is designed for melee combat anyway... Although Setsuna kinda needs to furnish his piloting skills a bit for best results. ;D

I'll go for Deathscythe Hell Custom (i love the sight of freshly cut grass.. err... MSs), Exia (as the name Seven Swords suggest) and of course the God Gundam (he only uses that god finger almost all of the time).

I think it's understood that any of the Gundams from Mobile Fighter G Gundam would qualify to this list because that series showcases almost nothing BUT melee combat. (And in that series, the effectiveness of the Gundam really depended on the pilot's skill in his chosen martial art.) So excluding the mecha in G Gundam, I would mention Deathscythe, Altron/Nataku, Strike Noir (gotta love those cables), and maybe the Duel, just because of Yzak's confrontational (not to mention persistent) fighting style. But yeah, I think Exia is #1. I mean, it has SEVEN swords. Jeez. ;D But yeah, I agree that Setsuna isn't the best pilot out there, yet.

Though they appear only on promotional videos and Manga, I think the some Gundam Seed Astrays MS were also excellent in melee combants Take the Kenshi(Samurai X) and Sanosuke version of MS : .. Red Frame - with his samurai as his primary weapon. Imagine if the pilot has the technique of Kenshin, we could see a Gundam using Hiten Mitsurugi style.. ;D hahahaha just my imagination guys... Blue Frame 2nd L - with his giant sword/gatling gun. Worth mentioning is the Sword Calamity Gundam with his 2 sword that are as big as the Sword Impulse. And also Gold Frame Amatu - Watch their fight with the Red Frame in Youtube. Don't know where it came from.. ;D

I just watched 08th MS Team again over the weekend, and the close combat scenes were awesome, too.

Gundam G MS will definitely lord it when it comes to melee combat when it comes to beam sabers, any suit piloted by heero yuy will do (series: using heavy arms vs zechs merquise/tallgeese; endless waltz: using a crippled space leo vs wufei/nataku ) ;D
