Genre: Weapon based fighter using bad@ss guys and jiggly super model type gals .
Platform: PS2 exclusive
Publisher: Namco
Pros: 1. fighting system, deep as it is easy to follow for casual gamers.
2. Graphics has been overhauled to incorporate some interactive environments and character designs have been re-styles to that similar in SC 1. (Frankly, some SC2 designs for some characters were kinda off key)
3. Replayability nearly infinite (all sorts of characters, weapons, armors, accessories and other easter eggs can be unlocked)
4. Create a character mode and a mini RTS game. (with the former being the best part...........you get to create ALL sort of characters to interact and play with) And ,sorry perves..............there is no nude mode for the ladies (well almost )
5. Background music,THX sounds.
6. Replay mode from SC1 returned in practice mode.
7. Multiple endings (like Soul Edge (PSOne)
8. Interactive segments like that of Shen Mue/Resident Evil 4
9. Bilinggual (english and japanese tracks)
Cons:
1. Hardware limits...........as much as I love the Emotion Engine of the PS2, it sure is starting to show its limits. Noticeable slow down in some effects. Lots of loading.
2. AI kinda cheap.
3. Too Much Replayability (it is a double edge sword )
4. No Music select option (the one where you get to listen to it on demand)
5. Some limitation in the character create option
6. Some of the english voice overs suck.
My take on this game is that if you are into fighting games, you owe it to yourself to have this third installment. Its got smooth controls, great graphics, lots of addictive playtime to invest.
If only DOA would also incorporate some elements of a character create mode into their games.
