my xenon dvd player acting up - it wont let the a disc out and when you turn the power on, theres no indication on the display. i dont wanna cannibalize it unless i really need to... so:
1. can anyone refer a good company/shop that fixes dvd-players? (or, does anybody know xenon's service center contact information?!)
2. if worse comes to worse and if its more feasible to purchase a new player, which one would you guys recommend?
3. i've known the existence of players that can play "divx" format but i've never actually bothered to immerse myself on those features. so, any updates? DivX i know, has a lotta versions and such.
4. while browsing through an appliance center, the salespeople told me that known branded companies (philips, samsung, LG, etc.) are churning out players that are "competitively priced" with "those players" (xenon, next base, etc) these days.
are they dependable this time? or are they still "mapili"?!?

I'm from Philips and I can say that our dvd players can play all discs even pirated ones...the price is also cheap...you can get one of our models for only 2990. Well, I'm not a salesman but I'm from Customer Service from Philips. hehehe! Plugging daw oh.

hi, just to add an area of consideration here... most of the ppl i know who have nextbase dvd players advise against it. they say the problem with nextbase is that it heats up too quickly. your first disc should play fine but after your first movie, pop another disc and the player is supposedly too hot and the disc, even if it is original, will act up. my recommended brand is shinco. my player is a shinco and it plays everything. i dont know if shops still carry this brand, though. some computer stores in cyberzone megamall still carry it. i dont know if the new models can play divx but my model was released before those divx capable ones came out. i use this player to watch an entire season of 24 in one sitting nonstop. that's 24 episodes and the player doesnt have any problems =) i heard that the "orange" brand has a divx player for as low as P1000. just make sure that it plays divx 6+ and below for maximum playability. most of the "bangketa" dvd sellers use orange players to demo their stuff, and those guys use the player all day without any problems, that should tell us how durable those things are. lastly, make sure the player you buy has a lot of cooling fans, and stay away from those slim models coz those are the ones that supposedly heat up the fastest. Well if you wanted a super cheap DVD I suggest you go get the Next Base I heard that there are models of Next Base player that supported playing DivX ....

I cant attest to the Next Base brand! That thing is totally frustrating! There are even times that it wont read anything at all! I am planning to get a brand new DVD player as well so feedbacks or recommendations are very welcome!
OFF TOPIC: Anyone recommend a trsted and proven PS2 repair shop? ;D

Where do you live? I can give you the address/name of the all-around repair shop near my village if you're just around my area.

My DVD player's brand is ganzklar it can play most of my Divx files and its much cheaper than Next Base. What I don't like is most of the control features are in the remote control or maybe this is a standard on most brands?
