Just this day I saw a hole in my cabinet full of sanded wood, I thought it was a termite or ant but there was no trace of them. Then suddenly after asking my friends on what it is, they said it was some sort of insect that chews on wood. I saw on the same level, a black insect with tiny wings.
Sad thing is, it chewed through the foot of my Zoids Raven Raptor, any idea what kind of insect it is? It's like a moth or winged ant something.
I'm planning to spray some insecticides on the holes.
I've had my cabinet for a year or so and for that time I've seen three holes up to now. I'm consulting a pest control forum if placing some cardboard on the surface for zoids would deter the bugs from boring through the zoids and find some other way.
They are called powder post beetles. Other preventive measures include reduction of moisture (I can buy anti-humidity thingies here) and some spray. I can get baygon aerosol but it's not that effective enough but I can use it to spray through the holes.
Borasol or something is also used but I can't find those here.
I need to get a new cabinet too. For the other zoids I need to build.

yep good thing that you brought this one up ... insects will find a way to live on those un touched boxes lying on the ground .... I've been experiencing this one also but not on the cabinets itself but on the box that was lying underneat my bed. When I look at the box I saw one insect that looks like a leech but much smaller one and it simply crawls on my old broken kits maybe my tip here buy a cabinet that is not made with wood but with a fine glass and put some lights inside the glass so that insects won't bother your kits I know that insects is afraid of the light but a glass cabinet would be a very expensive one but it is much safer for most of the insects crawling or chewing on woods like termites or the likes. Also spray or clean regularly your cabinets but you wouldnt want to smell your kits like bygons also look for a possible small holes that would make an entrance or exit of an insects or the likes.

Well here's the hole and the damage done: Some tips I got is to reduce humidity and use the insecticide as I still don't know where to get Boric acid. I'm also planning to have a surface for the cabinet which is non-wood. I might get the DVD cases of my PS2 games and place them as another surface for my Zoids to stand on so they don't get their feet bored.

Their larvae feed on moisture in the wood so fighting humidity on that area would be good.
I also need to place insecticide on the holes.
And I made a platform out of DVD cases for the huge batt op Zoids to stand on.

Silica gel might be the easiest choice kahit yung ginagamit sa shoebox pwede na put one pack per section....
pag wala ka mahanap eto... a shot glass of water sa tabi...needs a weekly refill of water nga lang..pero pwede na...

Joemar won't that add to the humidity in the cabinet? Boric acid according to others is effective but it's noxious and "matrabaho" coz I gotta take out the cabinet and do it outside, and it might be hazardous to my Zoids.

hehe, wish we all had that pest exterminator, MZ.
yeah, insecticide chalk may be one of the better (cheaper and less-hassle) solutions.
hope that zoid that got damages isn't a rare one, kamadoma.

Actually it's a limited edition Zoid but then the damaged part has the same color with the regular release counterpart, so it's easy to replace.
I did use the chalk but then with the bugges inside the wood I need to use the baygon with the tiny tube thingy.
And a whole lot of dvd cases for the Zoids to stand on as platforms.

a RaT chewing on plastic & wood could also be possible .....considering their long & sharp teeth......use DORA or Racumin......

This is commonly known here as BUKBOK. This bug in the pic resembles the bug I saw in the same shelf level with the bored hole wandering about.
