Customs is charging me 1200 PHP for a package worth 75 USD. Package contains 2 DVD and 3 audio CD. Isn't 1200 PHP too much? Approximately 26% of the package's cost?  Thanks! |

The fee is more than 1200 PHP. Here is the breakdown of the customs charge: Custom - 255.00 E-Vat - 529.00 Import Processing - 250.00 Doc. Stamp - 250.00 BIR - 15.00 Postal - 35.00 TOTAL - 1334.00  There was no receipt. It was my mother who got the package. She only copied the breakdown from the customs lady's notebook. I just didnt expect the fee would be that high. Any thoughts? |

^Which post office? I think SAL and EMS only differ in the arrival of packages. With EMS you will still have to claim the package at the post office and personally deal with Customs.
My only problem is the questionable breakdown of charges.

Yeah I almost became a victim of this too! And to think it was Makati, so I thought they would be honest enough but nooooooooooooooo.. still corruption infects this whole nation. This is when I tried to deliver my MP-03 Starscream using postal service just to check and guess what they tried to charge me P3,500.00 for it! What I did was like play mind games and said to them that I will be calling my boss for that and guess what the guy immediately said "P1,500.00 na lang boss" and I demanded for a receipt. This is why its very difficult to buy something on-line. Those money hungry, greedy people at customs should take a good look at Ghost's Rider's eyes so they can see that they are already burning in hell. And if you go DHL/FedEx/UPS you end up paying twice as much. The only alternative is door to door delivery but the risks are still there. Oh well, any advice guys?

Oh well, any advice guys? hahaha...i like your comment bro viper about those fiends(customs people) that they should look into GR's eyes... anyways i havent tried buying anything online or from abroad so i havent experienced something like that..although i truly feel what you guys are experiencing... one alternative can be done is if you do have relatives or friends from the U.S. or any country abroad in which you can ask a favor to them by getting or buying toys or something and maybe you can pay them or do something in return...and do ask nicely to your relatives/friends |
