MAn.. its Aether the guy who bought it was too desperate... Or he just have that much money to spare. Not really worth it... to be honest ,for a us Robotech toy. For a very small toy that cost $ 3k, here's what you can do with that money instead... Buy a brand new car. Get the Macross role-play helmets, ( $160 us Heck you can buy all threee!) Get the SOC voltes V ( get three if you like?) ect.. ect... What i'm trying to say is, You can buy the entier macross catalog with that money! man... whoever bought it, is not thinking right. What ever the reason, its not really that worth it for sucha toy....

Sorry, but I think not. its a super rare, limited edition, vintage that's only available in france in the 80's and in mint condition. for you its not, but for him and macross fans out there, it is. i don't see him as desperate. but i see he is wealthy and willing to send to get it. i respect that coz i too am a collector. i know what it feels like to put effort and resources to get stuff you need. congratulate the guy for winning it.

Even if it's that rare, Its still not worth it. Even if its colletcor's value. A member here once said, " What will you do after you have ha rare item like that? Show it off? We collect to play and enjoy it. i bet if even he's happy now, now what? I bet he will just put it in a shelf... And just look at it... Or brag. it deppends..." I'm not critizing him or sumthing like that. He could have done better. In a sence, looking for a better deal than that... I bet there will be sumone gonna sell that for only less than half the price. And the same mint condition too.. Since its the internet, i won't be supprize if that happend... As a fellow collector, Not because its rare, and that's the priceis great. it dosen't mean that you should go and buy it. Because there may be sumone will be willng to give this to you, at a better price. Who knows? But i do know is, Sumtimes, its better to wait a bit more... coz, you might get really lucky and get that at the same condition and Half the cost. Now that's sumthing to be proud off.

ah ok. got your point the price is just too high in your opinion to buy a toy even if its rare or very limited. and yes, finding a better deal is always better. but remember it really depends on who's perspective it is. he values this toy and would pay a premium for it while for you, its the "toys for sale" that's most valuable. others would even buy a fake one to really get it super cheap. who knows....this is the best deal ever for this toy. seller also mentioned (even the macross website) that its very very seldom (3 yata in his life) that he seen this toy and made in the 80's (more than 20 years ago).

Matchbox Robotech vintage are really uber expensive. I also recall the Hovertanks of Southern Cross also fetch such hefty prices( want to kick myself in the cajones...............I remember one unit gathering dust in HP long ago) if I'd purchase the thing, I'd be a thousand dollars richer.

truer words were never spoken. i'm sure we all felt that way one time or another. minsan I want to scream my head off pag naalala ko yung mga toys that I had when I was a kid. if only I took care of them more, vintage na sya ngayon and I'd be at least a few hundred dollars richer... ;D anyways, kudos to those collectors who have money to spare for vintage toy-collecting. sana kami rin may pera na ganung kalaki...

Anakin Skywalker, trust me. That Beta Fighter/Tread is one of the rarest collectible toy pieces ever. I myself wouldn't pay what the dude paid. Then again I don't want that toy. But I understand why there are people who would. Just think of it as some other kind of vintage collectible piece, like vintage furniture, cars or maybe even (*gasp!*) art. Items that are very old or produced in limited numbers really do command these kinds of prices, and that Beta Fighter/Tread reportedly produced in VERY limited numbers. For a fan of 80's era toys who has the money, the Beta Fighter/Tread is a rare find indeed.

heck, if he's rich and $3K is just loose change to him and he's a real macross fan then by all means he deserves the item. if its as rare as everyone says it is then it may be worth every penny. for him it may even have been a steal at $3K. some of us here are willing to give up an arm and a leg for a rare toy. i know i would if it was a toy that i collected. how many times have you seen a toy before that you passed up on buying just because you were trying to stay within budget? or was hesitant because you think you could find a better deal? then found out you passed up on an opportunity of a lifetime? happened to me more than once. and ive regretted it each time. from this guy's POV, he might've regretted not buying it more than losing $3K (that he happens to have and spare). so in short, kudos to that guy. and to us who have sacrificed a lot for what we love doing (collecting toys among other things) congrats to us as well ;D to anakin: i see your point man. sometimes some of us can be too extreme. but its just a matter of opinion. for those who can barely afford this hobby then it may seem to be an irrational act. but for the hardcore macross collector who has money to burn, a priceless artifact that he must have.
