engrgv, chet,
You are both right.
The valkyrie you mentioned was indeed a Black VF-1J with FP's. However, it was specifically created for that promotion. Only 5 were ever made, making it the rarest 1/48's of all.

Couldn't tell you what differentiated it from the regular release, though. There's also the TRU exclusive VF-1S Hikaru and Fast Pack Gift Set (relax, completists. it's just the two separate boxes packaged in flimsy TRU box ).

Sorry for the confusion Chet. It was CHECKMATE pala who left the comment. I mixed your names up. Sorry. Regarding the 1/60 TRU brownies, the color differences are minor. One is darker than the other (not sure if TRU was darker or lighter- never got the mass production brownie). The TRU Brownie is not what you would really call limited (unlike the black 1J), because it had a significant production run as well. Not as high as a standard run (usually 15,0000 units), but good enough (around 8000 units). It also later ended up with marked down prices in Japan (some even ending up at SM Toy Kingdom-got two TRU's from TK when I found them there). The only thing making it 'limited' is the sticker, but that did not make it fly with collectors so a lot of pieces ended up somewhere else. As for the Hikaru w/ FP Giftset, it was my understanding that it was similar to the TRU 1/60 Brownie, only more lower production numbers, but i will have to get back to you on that information.

Anyone here tried re-painting a yamato 1/60 Valk? I have a cannon fodder type and I want it repainted to another variant... what do you guys think?

Especially with a cannon fodder considering its base color is brown you'd have to repaint it first to white or a lighter shade.
