I've had this for quite some time now and it was only now that I got to finish the series.Aside from the awesome valkyrie fight scenes which were too short IMHO and naked shots of Sara singing in the lake, the anime had a lot of dragging parts and loopholes. And the ending.....Major chhese platter!!!! What do you guys think of the series?

the fght scenes are quite breathtaking, it's absolutely awesome... it's kinda different among other macross series coz nothing took place in outer space (which is good and realistically entertaining)... not to mention the animation... and roy focker's love story seems to more interesting than the leading characters'...

indeed Macross Zero isa far from other Macross animes ....mainly coz of the new technology in animation....just hate the ending....its like there something missing!!! just wonderin if the VF-0S is much bigger than the VF-1S???

i love the VF-0 units, simply put.
storywise, i find it quite confusing. although its not related to the tv series, i just find the blabbering talk about that alien thing being connected to the fish and the birds somewhat "turn-a-ish".
i'll say this again, i love the VF-0 units!!!

The battle scenes are great! The animation CGI was great! The VF-0s are great! The SV-51's are super great! The story line is well...somewhat nice The ending is...is...is... wtf is that ending supposed to be? What happened to Shin? Did he die? Did Sara take him to outer space? Me and my brother freaked out over the ending.

Same here. My DVD was dubbed in JP and has crappy subtitles. I couldn't connect Zero to 1...What does that alien have to do with the protoculture in the movie? Any explanations would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Peace

Me and my brother freaked out over the ending. Same here. I was left with the same WTF expression. I think Shin was taken by Sarah into space. if he stayed on Earth then he should have been part of the regular Macross series like Roy was. So Shin is the birdman.....HUH?!?!?

Yah Gaojp...what's more confusing is this, before Sara gets clobered by the Destroid Monter's projectiles, he asks Shin to protect the people on the island...so in essence...he should stay di ba? But instead we see the VF-0A in a possible non-survivable crash into the sea and then a magical force carries it into space not knowing if Shin's alive or dead...

Mac Zero is an 'open ending' type of anime, like most of the new stuff coming out lately.
It's left to your interpretation.
It's safe to say that the writers didn't want any identifiable loopholes in the story that'll bite them in the butt later on because the original Macross series (and the canon information it contains) can no longer be altered. So what they did is they whisked any identifiable characters to somewhere they cannot bother the original Macross story.
Same goes with the Megaroad-01.

to cut it short, they're doing a bandai. Mac Zero is an 'open ending' type of anime, like most of the new stuff coming out lately. It's left to your interpretation. to cut it short, they're doing a bandai. Nope. Cutting it short just doesn't cut it. "doing a bandai" doesn't necessarily answer JP's question, whatever the hell that means.

ah.
well then i think it depends on jp's and my "level of interpretation" as compared to yours.
(whatever the hell that is)
