Had some free time on my hands and decided to take pics of my recent haul, the gunbuster.
box pics
Folded Arms
Arms Unfolded
Back (the thrusters can swivel up or down)
my attempts to copy manual and box pix poses
for those who have not yet seen the figure up close and are wondering how the folded arms were done: kaiyodo made two separate chest plates one with the folded arms molded onto the chest plate and the other a regular chest plate. both chest plates simply snap on to the gunbuster's "naked" chest.
Gunbuster with a couple other kaiyodo creations; Moribito Jinki (blue) and of course, Getter1 melt down version.
PROS:
- tons of poses, lots of articulation
- nice details
- the only poseable mech i know that can do the "folded arms" bit
- quite a sturdy figure, very durable by kaiyodo's standards
- nice packaging
CONS:
- regular chest plate easily pops out
- some articulation on the fig are hard to figure out, you'd have to experiment on how to move some joints, if they move at all
- the pole on the stand is very short. as you can see from this pic, gunbuster should be "flying" but since the pole is too short i was forced to put his left leg flat on the surface for the pose to work. wish they made the pole longer.
- check these pix out. on the left is the actual toy pic and on the right is the box pic. as you can see the right foot on the box has a "cut' on the ankle part. that was supposed to be for an added articulation on the foot so that the ankle can be moved separately from the foot (this was present in the moribito jinki figure). appearantly it didn't make the final production. that would've been cool.
- very few accessories; 3 sets of fists (closed, splayed, missle fingers), extra chest plate and parts for the stand
- lastly, some joints may be too tight or loosen easily. the waist joint too tight and the left leg hip joint loose on my toy when i got it. d**n kaiyodo for their infamous quality control.
overall:
if you are a super robot wars fan go out and get one. there may be some quality issues but its not enough to make this toy look bad. the poses that can be achieved are awsome. you are gonna waste hours figuring out new poses for this bad boy. very fun to play with and cool to look at.
*my opinion may be biased since i am a fan of kaiyodo toys. but i like this toy so much that i am in fact gonna get another one, just so i have a MIB version of it. ;D
