Got addicted to taking pix of my toys. a very fun, yet tiring, thing to do to pass time.
this time around the review is on two of my most prized possessions; the rare kaiyodo getter 1 roll out version and the even rarer limited edition melt down version. have fun viewing .
Box Pix (roll out ver)
Box Pix (melt down ver)
Accessories (roll out ver): 3 sets of hands (splayed, closed fists and hands for weapons), getter wing, two getter tomahawks, gatling gun and two clear display stands
Accesorries (melt down ver): 3 sets of hands (splayed, closed fists and hands for weapons), an extra splayed hand (left, more splayed than the other two), right hand with torn out power core, an arm stump (left), two weathered getter tomahawks, weathered gatling gun, fallen monster display stand and two clear display stands
Differences:
The most noticeable difference of course is that the melt down version has a lot of battle scarring and its left arm can be taken off to be replaced with a stump (seen on other pix). The roll out version's paint is a lot glossier whereas the melt down version's is matte and dull. of course the accessories differ as well. Other than that both figs can do the same poses.
if you look here, the weapons as well have weathering on them. You can't see it on the tomahawks (not enough lighting, my bad) but the lower one has weathering along the handle and the edge of the blade. The gatling gun has it clearer. You can see some gun oil on the hadnle and some gun powder burns on the nozzle.
Some poses:
Getter 1 with getter wing
Getter 1 with power core (victory pose)
Getter Tomahawks
Gatling Guns
The inside of the box can be used as a bacjdrop for when you pose the toys
PROS:
- very poseable, easy to pose, lots of articulation
- tons of accessories, especially in the melt down ver
- very nice details and paint, especially in the melt down ver
- nice packaging, even the insides can be used when displaying
- very durable by kaiyodo's standards
CONS:
- paint on the roll out ver (some on the melt down ver) tends to be too "sticky" and makes the joints too tight. when the "sticky" joints are moved some paint are scraped off.
- paint problems on the weapon hands; you'd have to be very careful when putting weapons on them, paint tends to scrape off as well
- some joints may loosen easily, the right knee joint on my roll out ver is a little loose
OVERALL:
a very nice item to have. if you can find one for yourself that is. my gripes on these toys are all quality control issues on Kaiyodo's part. so if you're lucky enough to find one that has no QC issues at all then you've got one perfect toy. i'd give this one a 9/10
