He's big, blocky, bulky and with only 5 points of articulation....................guess who ? Costs more that a spleen and a liver combine for the original..............who am I kidding....presenting Star Convoy!
Been waiting for him to arrive since 1991..........
Back then I had to satisfy myself with the catalog I got for the micromaster set sold in SM HP....the ones with the white mini vans that launch them................hey...looks like Prime?
In the picture there was even a mini Hotrod within...cool!
Star Convoy with out pics........
History: confusing since Convoy died in Headmaster at the JP version and Rodimus left as an adult to search for a new Seibertron right? Now he's back in Hot rod form ( Logically, I assume he is in regular mode not micromaster size since the size comparison with star Convoy will make him driver size.)
Why he came back...........very weird explanation of which I leave to experts like Protoform and lastmaximal.
Comparison:
If my old catalog is correct,this new Star Convoy has a more shiny metal like plastic, the star on his chest is vacuum chromed not yellow and the white turned to aluminum shine finish (yehey...no yellowing)
Face plate has that grill like mini slot on both his cheeks like the original Convoy but his eyes are now blue, and that silver crown like structure on the "cap" of his brow is included.
His chest shield is a mark darker hue now.
In the chest I noticed a small peg to fit Hotrod in without him going loose, I checked my other micromaster gestahlts, with the exception of Six-liner, the others do have a slot for the peg.
The labels too are metalized now...good!
Convoy's rifle too take early homage to the classic rifle of unit 01
Hotrod comes with a mini van that serves as a launcher like the old trailer for Convoy. It is black collored too so no longer the yellowing fears.
Roller too has evolved, no longer a mini spy, he is a fully functional transporter with battery operated tank treads that has a forward and backward switch.
I also noticed a seemingly useless part that connects to the tank tread........color red.....a connection part to Grandus I assume ( so Takara better issue one or else ;D)
As a whole.........I am verrrrrrrry HAPPY! Finally got this baby.....all I have to do now wait for a little enrgon and hope for a lot of luck......................(cross finger and pray for Star Saber or even Grandus and Skygarry to form the Battlestar).
